When Lester mentioned Stephen, the British subtitles named him as “Stephen Heart”!

Becker’s team shows nothing but incompetence all through this episode: one of them allows Abby and Connor to precede him through the museum; they let Sarah run off without noticing her leaving; and they allow Nick and Abby to track the creature through the streets on their own (until Becker finally deigns to put in an appearance). And later there are three soldiers in the room when a creature tries to drag Connor into the anomaly. One of them can’t do anything but hang on to his rifle while Connor holds the other end but what are the other two doing? Phoning their mates at the ARC to change their bets on how long it is before Connor gets killed? They’re only at the doorway, which isn’t so far away that it should take them so long to get back to the Sun Cage.

Team Cutter hear Sarah screaming in the distance and all of them screech to a halt and listen for ages before getting going again.

Great lines:
(Jenny says they haven’t identified the creature yet)
Lester: “Can’t you look it up in your Big Book of Dinosaurs?”
(in relation to the eyewitness)
Lester: “Have her shot and dispose of the body discreetly. ... Just kidding!”

Lester complains about the creature being loose in the rush hour. No way is it rush hour in London as the outdoor scenes take place. The Embankment, where Cleopatra’s Needle is situated, is nose-to-tail traffic during rush hour, yet there appear to be hardly any vehicles around. Similarly, there should be hundreds of people walking along in front of the theatre on the South Bank during rush hour, yet it’s mysteriously quiet apart from the people inside.

Presumably all the boxes which Connor, Sarah and the soldiers use to block the anomaly contain priceless artefacts, yet Sarah doesn’t even wince when Connor starts throwing them around.

Sarah suggests that everyone should bow to the creature because it’s used to be treated like a god, and of course this works. This gives the creature a far greater intelligence than I imagine it’s actually capable of having. Regardless of what people usually do in its presence, it’s surely only interested in what it can eat and would have regularly jumped on the bowing Egyptians and eaten them.

The anomaly is not a Stargate – it doesn’t just close down when something goes through it. I suppose it’s just possible that the Sun Cage has a different effect on it, but it’s a bit of a stretch.

The Cleaner is now referred to as “Replica Clone” in the end credits.

Next week: Dobby the House Elf with teeth!!
