Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Primeval: Season 3: Episode 2
Vicious Dobby the house elf-type creature in an abandoned house

By Callie (Csullivan) on Saturday, April 04, 2009 - 3:48 pm:

How did the owners of the house survive long enough to pack up and leave after the deaths of the boys? How come they weren’t attacked by the Dobby?

The ARC crew aren’t very environmentally friendly. Why do three people need to take two cars to the house?

It’s a big house, but how come Jenny doesn’t hear Abby scream?

How did Helen know that Sarah kept her ARC pass in her pocket?

Helen and her stereotypical evil smiles are really starting to annoy me.

It’s a little drastic, Becker shooting the Cleaner Clone dead. Doesn’t he know how to shoot to disable a man?

Did Abby get dressed in the dark this morning? She seems to be wearing a very random selection of mismatched clothes.

That’s the worst estate agent in the world. How does he expect to sell the house if he keeps telling potential buyers all about its gory history?!

Those of us who still miss Captain Ryan from Season 1 got quite excited at last week’s preview when Jenny was calling out to someone called Ryan, but then assumed that she was actually calling out “Brian”. In the light of this Ryan not being the one we wanted, what was the point of including that moment in the preview?

What era does the Dobby come from? Past or future?

If the house has been visited before by what Danny refers to as “murder tourists”, why hasn’t he had the place boarded up?

Jenny tells Abby that Connor is in jail – and Abby doesn’t even ask why?!

How did it take Jenny all night long to get Connor out of jail? And how did Danny recognise the voice of the Home Secretary so fast?

Connor yells at the fast-moving Dobby to stand still, which it then obligingly does, but Connor still doesn’t shoot it.

Jenny’s hand-held anomaly detector goes off. This must mean that the ADD back at the ARC must also be going off. Why doesn’t Nick race out to the house? He doesn’t even turn up for the aftermath. His new shiny map must be really exciting.

Jenny suggests that Danny should just let go of his brother’s memory, and Danny agrees; yet moments earlier he realised that it was possible that his brother went through the anomaly. If anything, he should now have hope where before he assumed he was dead.

The chemistry between the characters seems better this season – more like Season 1 ... apart from Nick who seems more isolated than ever in this episode.

Next week: those of us who’ve read spoilers don’t even want to think about next week’s episode. But I did let out a loud “Woo-hoo!” at the preview clip of the return of Action!Lester.
