Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: ClassicTrek: Ask The Moderator: Pre-Tim posts
By ScottN on Monday, October 08, 2007 - 2:47 pm:

By the way, Phil's latest removed the Rules from the front page of Discus. Can someone put them back?

Thanks.

By Butch the Moderator on Monday, October 08, 2007 - 4:54 pm:

Scott, only Phil has access to that part of the site.

By Not a Windows Xp Fan on Saturday, June 14, 2008 - 4:45 pm:

Anyone knows the enhanced Tos episodes after Way to Eden? Give out a list? My comp crashed again.

By Alan Hamilton (Alan) on Saturday, June 14, 2008 - 10:09 pm:

Here's the list: http://trekmovie.com/tos-in-hd/tos-in-hdhdtv-star-trek-tos-episode-order2/

By Benn (Benn) on Sunday, November 16, 2008 - 10:11 pm:

Butch, the Part 6 of the Star Trek (the Early Years) board can't be accessed. It's just a blank page basically.

Live long and prosper.

By Butch Brookshier (Bbrookshier) on Monday, November 17, 2008 - 12:51 pm:

I fixed it. Sorry everyone.

By Butch Brookshier (Bbrookshier) on Monday, April 27, 2009 - 5:06 pm:

In case you're one of the people that only check the 'Last Day/Week' messages, I'm repeating myself here.

In case you haven't heard, I'm resigning as a moderator here at NitCentral. The search is on for replacement mods for the topics I cover.
They are:
Classic Trek
NextGen
Sci-Fi Novels
The Twilight Zone
PC Games
Action Figure
Non-Scifi Novels

So, if anyone is interested, send Phil an e-mail. Be sure to put 'For the Chief" in the subject line so he won't think it's spam.

By Alan Hamilton (Alan) on Friday, October 16, 2009 - 7:47 pm:

Just FYI, some of the archived topics are hosted on Geocities.com, but it's shutting down Oct. 26.

By LUIGI NOVI on Wednesday, December 09, 2009 - 9:46 pm:

Sam? Can you respond to the above post?

Also, when I try to post on the Star Trek movie board, I'm told that my message is added to the queue for moderator approval. Is this a protocol for all users on all your boards, or is there something in my posts that's triggering this? Thanks.

By Sam (ClassicTrek Mod) (Sjohns) on Thursday, December 10, 2009 - 12:11 pm:

Sorry Luigi, that comment passed me by, but I'll post it over there now.

I only require approval for non-registered users, which is probably for the best; I've deleted a few hundred automated bot posts in the last few months. If you register on this board you will be able to post without my approval.

By LUIGI NOVI on Thursday, December 10, 2009 - 2:42 pm:

I know I'm registered for some of the boards here, but when I try to register again, the TOS boards are not listed. Where is it? Also, since I'm already registered, I can't register again. How do I do this?

By Sam (ClassicTrek Mod) (Sjohns) on Saturday, December 12, 2009 - 6:03 pm:

I'm not completely sure, but I'll find out from someone who does!

By JEP on Friday, April 02, 2010 - 9:42 pm:

Sam- I've a bit of a problem. I've been a lurker for years-and decided to join the fun about a month ago. I put in for a user name and password, and the right to post in some of the private groups. I then waited about 3 weeks, and tried posting in movies-and was told I had a suspended account, and needed a activation key, which I don't have. When I put in for a new one nothing happened. I've since posted twice(3 with one I just finished) in public areas(one in Star Treks "Return To Tomorrow took almost a week to appear. What can I do to clear up the problem and start posting??

Note:As I've never had an account here before-how can I have a suspended account?? Have I stumbled into a old, forgotten username???

By JEP on Sunday, May 30, 2010 - 8:31 pm:

Sam- i wasn't kidding in my April 2 post--is there any way for me to get cleared to post??

I would be thankful for any help or advice I csn get. Please.

By Sam (ClassicTrek Mod) (Sjohns) on Friday, June 04, 2010 - 5:48 pm:

Hmm, sorry, I didn't reply because I'd checked your account out and it hadn't been activated, so I activated it and assumed it had started working.

I will double check it for you.

By John E. Porteous (Jep) on Saturday, June 05, 2010 - 3:29 pm:

This is a test of my Nitpickers password. If it works all I can say is "Thank you, Sam"; if not you won't see it.

By Sam (ClassicTrek Mod) (Sjohns) on Saturday, June 05, 2010 - 5:40 pm:

Excellent! I'm so sorry for the delay. Enjoy being a full poster.

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Thursday, July 07, 2011 - 10:54 am:

I don't know where else to put this, but a company called "Anovos" is selling replicas of TOS costumes. And, superb replicas they are. You can check out the redshirt here. Please read the last paragraph; it's great. And, if you want to order, do it now, as the production run is extremely limited. And pricey. (Anovos also sells Kirk's wrap tunic, but says it's from seasons two and three. The one being sold is a replica of the one from the second season. Kirk never wore the wrap in the third season, and the one used in the first season has some slight differences from the one used in the second.)

By ScottN (Scottn) on Thursday, July 07, 2011 - 4:16 pm:

For those too lazy to click the link:

quote:

One last note: Buyer agrees to absolve ANOVOS of all responsibility to the wearer of this Red Shirt in situations including and not limited to: phaser blasts, incinerations, hypnosis, death, psychotic mind melts, mind control, death by Gorn, Romulan torture, Klingon bludgeoning, dikironium cloud creature death, death by Nomad, vampire cloud maiming, and other hazards.

Hysterical.

By Todd M. Pence (Tpence) on Friday, July 08, 2011 - 2:36 pm:

Hypnosis? I don't recall any redshirt in the original series being hypnotized. In fact, I don't recall hypnotism mentioned any time during the original 79 episodes. Actually, in "Dagger of the Mind", Van Gelder was originally supposed to be hypnotized, but the Vulcan mind meld purpotedly was invented out of the absolutely ludicrous fear on the network's part that viewers of the episode would become "hypnotized." (News flash: There is no such thing as hypnotism in the real world outside of fiction.)

By Alan Hamilton (Alan) on Sunday, July 10, 2011 - 11:05 am:

Spock's control of the Kohm woman in "The Omega Glory" seemed like hypnosis, moreso than the normal mind-meld.

By Todd M. Pence (Tpence) on Sunday, July 10, 2011 - 7:09 pm:

It seemed more like telepathic mind-control (not that that has any more reality in the real world than hypnosis.)

By John E. Porteous (Jep) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 - 1:47 am:

Excuse me Sam--I have a question for you.

When I got your help to get my password working(this bosrd around May,2010)--this was a public board--I was able to post without signing up--but it had to be cleared through you before appearing on the board.

I was just telling people on the Doctor Who board how you did things as a possible way to avoid being spammed.

May I ask when and why you changed the setup here??(Any information would help.)

(To explain--I feel that the private posting area concept is hurting the site--and I feel that what you had (or what I thought you were doing) was the best compromise between avoiding spambots and allowing new posters access to contribute to the site.)

Thank you.

Can someone repost the old Lines You Will Never Hear on Star Trek threads? The Geocites archived section is not up anymore. :-(

By Nove Rockhoomer (Noverockhoomer) on Saturday, September 15, 2012 - 2:01 pm:

Norm you can go to this site to see some of the TOS boards that used to be on geocities. Several Lines You Will Never Hear boards are included. I don't know if all the archives are there or not. Perhaps a moderator should put a link to these on the Classic Trek main page.

By Nove Rockhoomer (Noverockhoomer) on Saturday, September 15, 2012 - 2:03 pm:

Or at the top of the relevant discussion boards.

By Luigi Novi (Luigi_novi) on Thursday, January 03, 2013 - 4:43 pm:

Moderator? The upcoming Star Trek film has a name, so you can change the board for it. Happy New Year. :-)

By Sam (ClassicTrek Mod) (Sjohns) on Friday, January 25, 2013 - 9:46 am:

Very well. Happy new year

I, too, tried to register and then got the "suspended account" thing for a long time. I gave up and tried posting anonymously, but I haven't seen any of my posts. Ever. :-(

what can I do?

Thanks!

By Samuel (Star Trek TOS mod) (Sjohns) on Friday, January 25, 2013 - 10:09 am:

It should be working now.

By Roger William Francis Worsley (Nit_breaker) on Friday, September 26, 2014 - 11:27 am:

IKEHYF (I Know Exactly How You Feel) - I kept getting the same thing. In the end I had to register a whole new account!

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Wednesday, January 06, 2016 - 1:42 pm:

I don't know where else to put this, but - Trek's 50th anniversary is upon us. One item to commemorate it is a four-stamp set from the USPS. More here. (I wonder if that set will sell out as fast as the first Elvis stamp did in 1993. Also, what would Seinfeld's Newman have to say about it? )

By Norman Buchwald (Norm) on Saturday, February 27, 2016 - 10:47 am:

Is there a place to talk about the future Star Trek series that will be on CBS streaming in a year? (I'd vote for Prime/original and post-Voyager/DS9 myself).
