In this professionally-made fan-made film from 2020, veteran actor 54-year old Robert Pralgo is Captain Robert April, and Tara Ochs plays his wife, Doctor Sarah April.
As we all know, April was captain of the Enterprise after she was built and (non-canonically) kept her for 5 years before Christopher Pike took command.
This isn't a cheaply made rip-off movie (coming in at 1 hour and 20 minutes). This is very well made with some very good acting, particularly from Pralgo and Ochs. Some of the others seem a little inexperienced (Vince Canlas, despite acting since the '90's, sounds like he's reading his lines for the first time), but it's a decent new crew.
The creators take a page out of 'The Cage', where we find a Starfleet captain (April) on the verge of breaking, after a disastrous mission, but there's more emotional baggage and conflict here between Robert and Sarah than there was between Chris and Dr. Boyce, simply because they're married. Complicating things is an offer to command the Enterprise, which April doesn't want, despite an
extinction-level threat against Earth.
The creators also took the surprising move to not have any TV series music, opting instead for 'Star Trek II - Wrath of Khan' music by James Horner which fits it perfectly, especially the scene of April running as he's holding a..

Axanar biting the hand that fed them certainly put an end to fan productions like New Voyages/Phase II, and meant others have only released 'minisodes' since then.

And these productions know how to faithfully recreated the TOS era.

Helps that those that make them are fans themselves.
