Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Crime and Justice Shows: The Sopranos: General Discussion (For episode specific nits, please place include the episode's title in the post)
By Srussel (Srussel) on Sunday, June 08, 2003 - 12:02 pm:

I'll get to adding episodes as soon as I take the longest possible scalding hot shower.

In case you can't tell, I'm not a fan.

By LUIGI NOVI on Sunday, June 08, 2003 - 8:18 pm:

???? Why in the world are you moderating a board for a show you're not a fan of?

By Brian Fitzgerald on Sunday, June 08, 2003 - 11:00 pm:

Probably because it fist under crime and justice. Can't you get someone who is a fan to moderate just this part.

By Srussel (Srussel) on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 - 11:29 am:

Brian: I've considered it.

Luigi: I don't watch CSI: Miami or Dragnet either (the latter because of my work schedule, the former because it's just not very good).

By Srussel (Srussel) on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 - 11:30 am:

I also don't watch The Sheild.

By Brian Fitzgerald on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 - 12:51 pm:

I don't want to step on anyone's toes but if you want someone else to do The Sopranos and/or The Shield I would be glad to. I check nitcentral's boards every day anyway and I have The Shield season 1 and The Sopranos seasons 1 - 3 on DVD.

By Srussel (Srussel) on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 - 9:42 pm:

Sure. Send an e-mail on to Phil. Tell him I approved it. :) Welcome aboard. Tomorrow I'll put up a nice Welcome message for you.

By Brian Fitzgerald on Thursday, November 20, 2003 - 11:53 am:

We has some trouble getting a hold of Phil but for the time being, I've started working on this board. I don't have a nitcentral e-mail yet so if you have anything to say to me do it here or e-mail me at brifitz1980@yahoo.com

I've got a page up for season 1 and a summary up for the pilot. I hope to have summary's up for all of season 1 within the week, give or take finals and school projects I'm working on now.

I'm nitpicking the opening credits:
One of the first shots is a POV shot, from the inside of Tony Soprano's SUV. He's listening to 102.7 on the radio. It's been years since that frequency (WNEW-FM) was a decent station. When the scene was probably shot, WNEW was a talk station. It gave up its rock format in September, 1999 for talk. I can't see Tony Soprano listening to talk radio, especially since it's been established that he likes classic rock. (He was heard singing along to Steely Dan's "Dirty Work" in one episode.) Currently, WNEW has an "adult contemporary" format; they dropped the talk format in fall, 2003.
Also, he passes a Sunoco station, where the price for regular unleaded is 97.9 cents per gallon. Something we'll never see again.

Also, in almost every scene, somebody (usually Tony) is eating.

Here's the story of the mugshot of Frank Sinatra seen on the wall of the Bing's office.

A&E has just shelled out a record amount of cash (almost $200 million) for Sopranos repeats, which they doubtless will have to clean up and edit for a basic cable run. More here.

By Brian FitzGerald on Tuesday, February 01, 2005 - 9:36 pm:

I've heard that they shot alternate takes of some scenes for use in basic cable repeats ever since the show started (less gore, tops on the bada bing dancer, perhaps even aloernate language for some scenes) HBO did the same thing for Sex and the City

By Adam Bomb on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 - 10:01 am:

I hope that actor Lillo Brancato Jr., who is accused in the murder of NYPD Officer Daniel Enchautegui, gets the same fate as Brancato's Sopranos character, Matt Battaglia.

By Adam Bomb on Thursday, January 26, 2006 - 10:07 am:

New episodes begin airing on March 12, 2006. I don't even think I care anymore. Do you?

By Brian FitzGerald on Thursday, January 26, 2006 - 5:19 pm:

I'll be watching.

By Adam Bomb on Monday, May 08, 2006 - 11:24 am:

In the episide "The Ride" (which aired the week of May 7, 2006), Paulie's "mother" (who in reality is his aunt - or do I have it wrong?) says "I'm watching the Lawrence Welk Show on Channel 55." Repeats of the Welk show (with some newly taped segments by members of Welk's former cast added) are seen on public television stations in the New York/New Jersey area. Channel 55, WLNY-TV is a commercial station out of Long Island, which does not run the Welk show.

By Adam Bomb on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 - 8:36 am:

Sopranos repeats (edited for content and probably time) begin on basic cable channel A&E tonight; 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. (ET) If this is anything like the unwatchable edited versions of Sex And The City making the syndication and TBS rounds, I'll avoid them like the plague.

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Wednesday, August 04, 2021 - 7:36 am:

A prequel to the series, titled The Many Saints of Newark, will premiere in theaters and on HBO Max on September 24, 2021. The plot revolves around the Newark riots of 1967. Michael Gandolfini will play the teenaged version of his late father's character. More here.
