If anybody remembers this show, this is the place to talk about it.
The show is about two officers of the California Highway Patrol, Jon Baker (Larry Wilcox) and Frank "Ponch" Poncherello (Erik Estrada). In every episode, Ponch and Jon patrol the highways and come upon some kind of crime to investigate. For example, in one episode they're going after theves who steal classic cars. In another, they're looking for a man who calls in false alarms to police and fire departments.
Mrs. ScottN likes Erik Estrada in his tight "CHiP" pants.
It's on late nights on TBS. Guilty pleasure. It's interesting to see the mid-70s attitudes towards cops. Nearly everyone they interact with (who isn't a victim of some sort) is rude and disdainful.
Yeah, I remember that show, and I think Erik Estrada looks cute, too, though not because of his tight pants, but his cute face.
But its not shown at the moment here, so I'll have to wait if it reruns before making comments.
I don't think C.H.I.P.s has ever been off TBS, not at least since I've had cable, and I've had it for over 15 years.
There was still enough interest in the show in 1998 to do a reunion telepic for TNT, C.H.I.P.s '99.
Didn't CHiPs feature, at some point, Star Trek's own Michael Dorn?
He was the token black guy who sat in the back of roll call and usualy made some smarta** remarks and didn't feature much beyond that in most eps.
Erik Estrada is now hawking property in an Arkansas community.
He also has been a big star for many years on the Spanish language soap operas.
That surprised me because I had heard that Estrada at first didn't speak Spanish; he had to learn it.
I find it hard to believe but apparently they never drew their guns in the series, Estrada said so in an interview, is this true?
