Day 8

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Crime and Justice Shows: 24: Day 8
By ScottN on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 - 8:14 am:

Brought over from the board in The Kitchen Sink.

By ScottN on Saturday, January 30, 2010 - 5:25 pm:

Since the C&J moderator STILL hasn't put up Day 8 of 24 (hint hint hint), I'm posting nits here.

CTU must have pretty crappy screening, for a law enforcement agency. Dana has a criminal record, and her prints aren't on file? Even if it was juvie, the prints should still be around.

By ScottN on Tuesday, February 02, 2010 - 12:58 pm:

Vladimir is rather... um... how to put this in a way that won't tick off Phil... quick on the draw, isn't he, given the time from Rene "going dark" and the time we see them done?

Anyone else think that Josef is going to go turncoat on Bazhaev?

By ScottN on Monday, February 08, 2010 - 11:22 pm:

10PM-11PM.

At the end, the culvert that they take Jack out of looks suspiciously like the one from Day 6 where he was traded to the terrorists.

By ScottN on Tuesday, March 09, 2010 - 12:34 am:

Anybody else figure that Ortiz is going to "die nobly" before the end of the season? Mr. Clean acting the way he did?

Also, What's up with Kaila and Tarin? He knows Hassan's got guys looking for him; she has to figure that her dad's looking for her. And the first thing they do is fall into the sack? Unh-unh.

By ScottN on Monday, March 15, 2010 - 11:07 pm:

CTU doesn't learn from experience, do they?

Didn't they get EMP'ed in either S5 or S6? You'd think that they'd try to EMP-harden this shiny new CTU. Can anyone say "Faraday Cage"?

By ScottN on Monday, March 22, 2010 - 11:06 pm:

Kind of a filler episode this week.

OK. I have zero respect for the all-new-and-improved CTU, what with the lack of background check on Dana and the fact that she's a mole. Didn't they learn ANYTHING from CTU-LA?

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 - 10:08 am:

Didn't they learn ANYTHING from CTU-LA?
Or from their experience with her?
Maybe that's why there are rumors floating around that this will be 24's last year - I've read that there's a "been there, done that" feel. Personally, I think it started off a bit weak, but it's getting better. And, Chloe wielding a gun was pretty cool.

By ScottN on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 - 2:21 pm:

Hooray! I was getting lonely over here!

BTW, Adam, I was thinking of Nina when I posted that question.

By ScottN on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 - 2:22 pm:

I also liked the way Hastings put down the NSA guy. Finally, he stands up for his people.

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Saturday, March 27, 2010 - 6:19 am:

The rumors have become fact - according to a report I saw on Fox 5 news last night, this is 24's last season. The final episode (a two-hour send-off) will air on May 24, 8-10 p.m.

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 - 11:26 am:

The look of the NYPD cars, and the NYPD logo, are 100% wrong here. The correct look for the white and blue cop cars is here. The NYPD car pictured in the link has the correct NYPD logo on the front fender.

So I really had no interest in watching this season (and still don't despite Starbuck being a terrrrist) but the Wife and I were watching House and there was a cat napping on my lap and the remote was out of reach so...

Fun moments in this last hurrah: Chloe looks comfortable in the role of CTU head, President Taylor is still a terrific president...

But the moment Jack and Renee hopped into bed (and that whole real-time thing is bunk with how quickly they went from tugging at each others clothes to making the beast with two backs) Wife said Renee was going to get the silent clock at the end, and darned if she wasn't right.

So, no, I don't think we'll be back next week, or for the movie. But it was what we expected.

By ScottN on Monday, April 12, 2010 - 11:36 pm:

I was wondering where you were, Kyle.

Bets that ex-Pres Weasel is in cahoots with Russki-dude?

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 - 6:58 am:

Wife said Renee was going to get the silent clock at the end, and darned if she wasn't right.
Second episode in a row to end with the silent clock, in fact. I don't think that's ever been done before.

By ScottN on Monday, April 19, 2010 - 10:11 pm:

Wow!! Ex-President Weasel is showing some brass ones.

By ScottN on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 - 9:00 am:

OK, it turns out ex-President Weasel's stones were due to his corruptness... surprise, surprise.

When Ethan and Logan are fighing for Taylor's soul, you can almost hear Vader saying, "Come to the dark side, Luke".

By ScottN on Monday, May 03, 2010 - 11:25 pm:

I think the writers blew it here. I really do.

I don't recall Jack ever shooting/killing someone in cold blood before. Yeah, he's left a trail of bodies a mile long, but always pulled back from the brink.

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Tuesday, May 04, 2010 - 7:42 am:

I watched my first episode in HD last night, as I got an HDTV set and cable box last week. Jack looks too clean shaven; for someone going 20 hours straight, he should have a five-o'clock shadow.
Also, President Weasel's hair seems to have a mind of its own. In one scene, it's parted on the left, a few minutes later, it's parted on the right.

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 - 7:15 am:

"Day Eight", and the series, ended on May 24. It will be a long wait for the DVD set to come out. It's scheduled to be released December 7. More here

By ScottN on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 - 8:45 am:

And Taylor pulls back from the brink, saving her soul in the process.
