Liars, Guns, and Money, Part 2: With Friends Like These

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Farscape: Season Two: Liars, Guns, and Money, Part 2: With Friends Like These
Just when you thought everything was going good. Turns out that Scorpius figured out their plan. Scorpius now has Jothee and a bunch of Stark's people. He'll return Jothee in exchange for Chrichton. D'Argo is almost ready to turn Chrichton over himself, but he restrains himself. They concoct another plan. This time it involves 4 alien races that they encountered in the past: The Vocarian Bloodtrackers (The Smelling guys), the Sheyang (The Firebreathing guys), the Tavleks (The wrist weapon guys), and the Zenetan Pirates (The Flax guys).
As D'Argo, Aeryn, and Chrichton go on a treasure hunt for these guys, Rygel and Chiana want to obtain a little of the loot for themselves. Unfortunately it's all gone. They find those metal spiders that were seen at the end of the last episode. They were put there by Natira as a trap for Scorpius. Since the gang stole Scorpie's money, it's their problem now. Zhann determines that the only way to get rid of the spiders is extreme heat. Unfortunately for Moya, it will be extremely painful. During the procedure, Zhann and Stark try to absorb some of the pain but it is still very painful for Moya. John, Aeryn, and D'Argo return to find Moya charred to a crisp. (Do you like your Leviathan regular or extra crispy?) These alien guys they gathered up ain't lookin' too promising either, and they won't be too helpful when they find out that their money just got flamebroiled. When a shuttle with a half-Luxan occupant (who shall remain nameless) comes on board and explains that Scorpius released him, the crew knows that there is only one way that Scorpius would release our half-Luxan friend.

Boy these synopses are getting bigger and bigger. WOW. Complicated episodes deserve complicated reviews I guess.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
Chrichton: "You win."
Scorpius: "As if there was ever any doubt."
(These two can really act together I tell you what.)

A fabulous episode - I cried my eyes out twice, which is usually a good sign of a superb piece of scripting and acting. Zhaan's and Pilot's dread at the thought of having to subject Moya to such pain had me in tears long before they had to make the final decision; D'Argo and Chiana's tearful conversation about Jothee had me filling up; and the look on John's face at the end again had me crying at the thought of his courage in taking such a step.

Scorpy's sex scene was a bit disturbing!

And the spiders scared me half to death! Arachnophobes should NOT watch this episide!

Episode 3 next week in the UK - please can the moderator put a new page up soon?

They kinda reminded me of scaled down versions of those critters in the Lost in Space movie...

Well, here we have conclusive proof that at some point the Farscape module got fitted with a Hech drive. The question is when did it happen?

By BrianA on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 - 1:26 pm:

It happened right before Till The Blood Runs Clear. John was testing it out at the same time he was making a wormhole.

Except that you're wrong. Rewatch that episode and you'll hear Furlow comment that it has no Hech drive. What I believe was done was that parts from Moya were fitted on to allow the Farscape module to launch off planets under its own power.
