Suns and Lovers

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Farscape: Season Three: Suns and Lovers
Plot Summary:
The crew goes to a space station to spend their newfound wealth from the shadow depository. Rygel and Chiana stay behind as Stark, Zhann, Crichton, and Aeryn board the space station. Rygel uses a viewing shell to spy on Chiana and Jothee having passionate space sex. (I don't know what disturbs me more, the fact that they were doing it, or the fact that Rygel was watching)
A space storm hits the space station and several people are killed or trapped. The crew assists in looking for survivors. Chiana discovers that there's a nursury on one level. Crichton and Aeryn go to investigate. Steamy sex discussion in a large pipe ensues. They get separated so Aeryn goes on the search alone.
D'Argo discovers the affair between Jothee and Chiana. He's pissed. He brands Jothee with something and then storms out of the room saying he never wants to see either of them again.
Another storm approaches the station. It makes a 90 degree turn so Crichton figures it's artificial. The bartender of the station says that they have religious enemies. The bartender's female friend is soon found out as one of the enemy. She's got some chip that is attracting the storm. Conveniently she attaches herself to the ceiling magnetically.
They use more of what's in the ceiling to get her down and into one of the criostasis chambers. They succeed. They're ready to lure the storm away from the station.
Everything's good except that Moya is tangled in the station's docking cables. Only D'Argo can go out and free them, but he's in huge emotional pain. John finally convinces him to do it but he tries to commit suicide while outside. Crichton goes to finish the job and D'Argo (whose suicide attempt failed) assists John.
All is well except that the religious whakko is out of the pod and attached to Moya's wall. But that wall is detachable. Pilot takes great joy blasting her out into space.
Jothee and Chiana share a close moment. Jothee says he is sorry that he failed his father. He is ashamed because he is a terrible Luxan. He vows to return one day and make it up to both of them. He leaves.
D'Argo watches the whole exchange using Rygel's spying technology.

COMMENTS:
>> Aeryn better make up her mind. Her constant teasing with John is getting a little tiresome.
>> Enough praise cannot go to Anthony Simcoe for his acting performance in this episode.
>> The bartender looks like a walrus.
>> I have to side with the big guy in this one. What Chiana and Jothee did was wrong. I have no sympathy for either of them.
>> CLASSIC MOMENT: Pilot laughing maniacally just before blasting the religious whakko out into space. (Lani Tupu is a very skilled maniacal laugher.)

NITS:
>> How would Jothee take a bath on Moya?
>> John's helmet doesn't attach to his suit when he puts it on. This is not a good design.
>> What's the difference between having the religious whakko in a pod on Moya or having her on the wall on Moya. The storm would chase Moya regardless.

Great episode.

From the title, I'm guessing its about Areyn Sun dealing with her new life, and the love triangle between Dargo, Chiana, and Dargo's Sun/Son Jaffe.

If the teaser's any indication, Aeryn strips (or comes close to losing her jacket with nada underneath) for John. Of course, teasers usually totally misrepresent the actual episode.

Haven't seen the teaser.... I tend to avoid them. Voyager's turned me off of them...

Wow. A very emotional episode. Poor Dargo.

Nit: where did all of those people come from at the end of the episode, comforting the kids? Zhaan, Stark, Rygel and that elephant guy (Murgo?) seemed to be alone for almost the whole episode and then, all these people show up. Where were they before? If they were on the station, why didn't they help Aeryn rescue the kids?

I loved how John spaced that alien homing-beacon chick at the end.

And, once again, I am convinced that either Australia was colonized by space people or a whole lot of Australians left Earth to colonize space, considering the wealth of Aussie accents in this ep. (wink, wink)

For what I wasn't expecting to be a very good episode, this was a very good episode. There was some very good quote in the early part of this ep, but I forgot it and couldn't find it again! Maybe it was actually during I-Man.... hmmm dunno, but I was completely cracking up when Aeryn shot open the door. She lloked like something was wrong or something and then when she said "Frell me dead!" I burst out laughing.

We can rack up another main charecter almost-death. Anyone wanna try and figure out how exactly Dargo survived that?

Anyone else notice how almost every scene in the teaser took place in the first 15 min of this ep? Talk about misleading.

Okay, been reading and enjoying for a while, but just gotta speak up on this one...

--Jothee can take a bath on Moya the same way anyone else can. In "Exodus from Genesis," Aeryn and Zhaan are in a shower together, and in "Vitas Mortis" Chiana washes clothes in Moya's amnexus fluid, so I'd say one of these two places was where Jothee bathed.

--The difference between the pod and the wall is that the whacko thought that by clinging to the wall she couldn't be jettisoned. She didn't realize the wall was removable.

(As for the helmet, it doesn't attach when Crichton puts it on, but later it is attached. ONe of those things conveniently not seen?)

Hope I've not offended. ^_^

Chiana tells Jothee to take a bath because otherwise D'Argo will be able to smell her on him, but never seems to consider that she needs a bath too.

How does Lani sound so very different as Pilot than he does as Crais? Is his voice put through some electronic equipment to raise it?

I agree with previous comments: superb acting from Anthony; and Pilot's maniacal cackle at the end was rather unexpected but totally delightful!

Well, you know, Moya is full of criminals (so was that space station, by its looks), and Austraila was first colonized (Yes, I DO know other were there first) by criminals, so.... :)

Just saw this for the first time the other day. I thought that it was pretty good. Though I think that Aeryn's suggestion to Crichton really didn't make much sense considering how adamant she is about not acting on it in the last episode.

I loved Rygel's endless taunting and insulting of the villain of the week. What would this show be without that puppet?

Speaking of puppets, Pilot was crazy at the end there. That was sweet. Pilot had a little bit of and attitude at the beginning of year 3. Too bad we didn't see more of that.

And poor D'Argo. I've really gotta feel for the guy. I don't know if I feel worse for him now or for Crichton between Fractures and Dog with Two Bones later on.
