I Yensch, You Yensch

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Farscape: Season Three: I Yensch, You Yensch
"This is fine? I'd hate to see when you do badly!"
-- Rygel

PLOT SUMMARY:
In order to get Crichton onto the command carrier, Rygel and D'Argo have set up a negotiation with Scorpius. The negotiation takes place in a run-down diner. Scorpius agrees to have "I-Yensch" bracelets attached to Crichton and himself for security (the pain of one person is felt by the other). They test the device on D'Argo and Brakka. All goes well until some big smurf-like creatures come in and try to rob the place.
Meanwhile, Talyn blows up a medical ship and fires at Moya. It is determined that he must be completely shut down. They can bring him back, but he won't be the same Talyn.

ANALYSIS:
Not stellar, but a good setup for next week.
I give it a 7/10.

NITS:
>> Where did those Peacekeeper ships come from?
>> Why didn't D'Argo just tongue the two smurf-men?
>> If Scorpy keeps a pulse blaster in his head, why didn't he use it on Crichton when they were fighting each other at the end of "Liars, Guns, and Money, Part 1"?

NEXT WEEK:
The good stuff. Crichton forms a (presumably fake) alliance with Scorpius.

And for this FFSE (Farscape Fan Stuck in Europe), I'll probably have to wait for my next trip to the states to even get close to seeing a Farscape ep. URG!

A really good action-packed episode. The guys who played the bird-like aliens did a great job!

Talyn’s descent into insanity was moving and terrifying. But I wonder why they haven’t seemed to consider taking him to the leviathans’ creators? Have they not thought of it or are they afraid that the creators would destroy him?

I’d need to watch again but I got the impression that Scorpius’ instructions on how to remove the I-yensch bracelet involved pressing two buttons and simultaneously typing in the release number, involving more than two hands. Firstly, I couldn’t see a keyboard or numberpad, and secondly it looked like Scorpy’s second-in-command (his name escapes me) got his bracelet off all by himself.

When Talyn’s internal weaponry deployed, it looked like there was blood on the knife. Where did it come from? Have we ever seen Talyn stab someone? I can’t recall whether he stabbed the Scarran (or was it a Colata?) from a few episodes back or whether he shot it.

D’argo still seemed to be suffering from a leg injury when he got back to Moya, but the injury was sustained by Scorpy’s 2nd i/c, so with the removal of the bracelet shouldn’t D’argo have been alright again?

I thought they were more Monkey like myself, the way they kept screeching when they laughed 'n stuff.

I had wondered about the creators as well. Considering their reaction to Moya for merely giving /birth/ to Talyn I have to wonder what their reaction to Talyn in person would be, especially since Zaahn isn’t their to kick some creator butt. ^_^ It would have been nice to have a line of dialogue saying that though.

>I’d need to watch again but I got the impression that Scorpius’ instructions

As for the bracelets….I wish I’d taped this ep, you’ve got me wondering that myself. I initially though you just had to press the two buttons simultaneously and then entering the code rather than having to hold in the two buttons when entering the code.

>When Talyn’s internal weaponry deployed, it looked like there was blood on the knife.

Again, I’ll need to look over the eps I have on DVD but I’d swear those markings have been there before. I don’t think they’re blood, just part of the overall design.

>D’argo still seemed to be suffering from a leg injury when he got back to Moya, but the injury was sustained by Scorpy’s 2nd i/c, so with the removal of the bracelet shouldn’t D’argo have been alright again?

Wasn’t the whole point of the bracelets to match the nerve impulses that happen when someone gets hit/smacked/shot etcetcetc. If that’s the case then yes, I think D’argo should still be feeling that pain, its already happened and he’s feeling it, why would it go away after the bracelet was off?

The only other question I have is…where did those two Peace Keeper prowlers come from? Were they from Scorpy’s Command Carrier? If so then Moya and Tayln were a little too close to the meeting area for my liking...if not, where?

By SpottedKitty on Wednesday, January 23, 2002 - 2:48 pm:

Scorpys second in command is called Brakka (dunno the spelling though, taking a guess)

I’ve watched this again and Scorpius definitely said that you had to simultaneously press the two red buttons while typing in the three-digit code and then a “Release All” button. I suppose the bracelet could have been designed so that you could, for instance, hold the red buttons with your little and ring finger while typing with your index finger but we didn’t get a close enough look at the bracelets to see for sure.

I still think the bad guys sounded more like birds!

So....Talyn destroyed a Prowler, Marauder and the Med ship in 1 shot but about 4 shots couuldn't destroy Moya?
What?

By Callie on Monday, January 28, 2002 - 8:40 am:

I don’t think he was trying to destroy Moya, just trying to damage her so that her crew would be more concerned with repairing her than coming over and switching him off.

By Scott on Saturday, April 06, 2002 - 5:23 pm:

Actually it was more like two rounds. He destroyed
the Peace Keeper ships in the first round and then
turned and destroyed the med ship.Interesting device to keep Gem on Moya.I wonder if they plan on making her a regular member of Moya's crew next
season.
Why does D'argo keep banging his head on the floor
after the alien has already been done in,does he
love the feeling?
For a change Rigel's backstabbing talents are actually useful, and don't think for one moment he
didn't ENJOY shooting Scorpy!!!:)

By Merat on Wednesday, August 14, 2002 - 7:36 pm:

I think D'argo kept banging his head on the floor because he was too far gone with pain to know that he didn't have to any more.

By Josh M on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 - 10:26 pm:

If Scorpy keeps a pulse blaster in his head, why didn't he use it on Crichton when they were fighting each other at the end of "Liars, Guns, and Money, Part 1"?

He probably just stuck it in there for this mission, in case he needed to use it.
