A new fan's thoughts

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Farscape: The Clam Shell - aka the Sink: A new fan's thoughts

Since I don't get cable, my introduction to the show was fairly recent. Our local video rental place had the first four episodes and they were interesting enough that I was willing to purchase the Season 1 DVD box set. So far, a pretty cool show. I'll be glad when the Season 2 box set comes out. A couple thoughts:

1. Red Moya
In a certain sense, Farscape has a passing resemblance to Red Dwarf, as they both feature a bunch of semi-clueless misfits blundering about the galaxy in a huge ship, annoying just about everyone they meet. The main character of Farscape even shares a name with a character from Red Dwarf (though they spell it differently). Assuming that I'm not the only one that sees this, anyone care to expand on this idea?

2. The eyes have it
It seems to me that persons they meet with unusual eyes tend to be evil (or at least of dubious moral character). Among them are the albino chick from Thank God It's Friday Again, Maldis (That Old Black Magic), Namtar (DNA Mad Scientist), Furlow and the bloodtrackers (Till the Blood Runs Clear), and Durka (Durka Returns). Although their coloration is ordinary, the eyes of the Scorvian chick from Back and Back and Back to the Future and Peacekeeper Barbie (Nerve and The Hidden Memory) are kind of freaky looking, though I can't really figure out why.
