Ben Browder jumps to a different Sci-Fi Channel show

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Farscape: The Clam Shell - aka the Sink: Ben Browder jumps to a different Sci-Fi Channel show
By Taoiseach on Monday, December 20, 2004 - 10:41 am:

The website Watchfarscape is reporting that Ben Browder will join the cast of Stargate SG-1 as a regular character in season 9.

Tho' this bodes well for fans of SG-1, this looks to put the kaibosh on any chance of an imminent fifth season of Farscape.

I never got into SG-1. In my opinion, Sci Fi sacrificed Farscape on the altar of SG-1.

Anyway, how the miniseries wrapped up, I don't think there could be a season 5.

Henson, Rockne, and DK believe otherwise. That's why Henson is thinking about possible movies in the future.

Good! I would LOVE more Farscape.

By The Undesirable Element on Friday, December 24, 2004 - 10:29 pm:

Actually, I don't think I would. I liked the way the miniseries ended. To have anything else after it would seem anti-climactic.

Crichton and Aeryn are together
D'Argo's dead
The wormhole pursuit is over
The Scarrans and Sebaceans are at peace
Baby Crichton has been born
Crichton has accepted that he can never go home
Harvey is gone and Scorpius no longer wants wormholes

If there were to be more Farscape, it would have to be set in the distant future (a la Star Trek: The Next Generation) with a new storyline and new characters. But these characters MADE Farscape. I can't imagine the show without Ben Browder, but I think the character of Crichton has completed his journey.

All of these characters have completed their character arcs. I don't feel that sense of incompleteness to the story that I felt following "Bad Timing."

I just don't want to see a great show march on with no purpose for no reason other than the fans want more. It would be like adding a few more acts onto "Hamlet" just because everyone liked the first five acts so much.
