-Colonel Lydecker, AKA "Deck." A member of the military section devoted to Project Manticore, he oversaw the development of Max and the other children in Wyoming. Now, with his reputation ruined by Madame X, he is helping the X-5's bring down Manticore. He was "killed" in "Proof of Purchase."

Associates:
-Peter Sandoval, the head of the electronics division at Manticore. Sandoval was actually working for Madame X, and Lydecker caught wind of their plan to kill Lydecker using a hoverdrone. Lydecker used the hoverdrone against Sandoval, and it killed him (See "Meow").

-Zigs, a man from Johannesburg who works for the people that make the Red Series' implants. He wants to trade the plans for the implants in exchange for some early Manticore testing DNA (See "Meow"). Max turned the tides on him in "And Jesus Brought A Casserole."

-John McGinnis, the head of a mysterious syndicate of power brokers. Lydecker gouged his eye out to allow Max to gain acces to Manticore in "And Jesus Brought A Casserole." Lydecker killed him in "Designate This."

He was also an alcoholic.

He quit drinking "cold turkey". He thinks that people who need 12 step programs are weak. He goes to AA meetings to mock those who attend.

Ok, this is pure speculation on my part, but...

I think that Deck was, himself, an early experiment in genetic manipulation.
