This version of Ben was renamed "Alec" by Max (Like "Smart Alec"). She was going to call him "Dick." His loyalty was with Manticore up until it's destruction in "Designate This." Afterwards, he was set-up by Ames White to kill X-units and anomalies ("Proof of Purchase"). When Max saved his life, Alec decided to get a job at Jam Pony, and now works with Max and the others, even though he is still selfish and abrasive ("Two").

Alec's first deep-cover mission for Manticore was to infiltrate the home of Robert Berrisford, a government agent who knew too much about Manticore's gene splicing experiments. Alec was to play the part of Simon Lehaine, a piano instructor giving lessons to Berrisford's 17-year-old daughter, Rachel. Over time, Alec fell in love with Rachel, but he still planted a bomb in Berrisford's car. Manticore wanted Alec to kill him and his daughter at the same time, but instead, Alec warned Rachel, and Rachel ran to her father in the car. Manticore agents then detonated the bomb themselves, with Alec believing Rachel dead. In fact, Berrisford survived the explosion (Rachel pulled him out of the car), but Rachel fell into a coma for 2 years before dying in late 2020 ("The Berrisford Agenda").
