Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: The Twilight Zone: The Twilight Zone on UPN
As you may have heard, this fall will see the premiere of a new Twilight Zone series on UPN Network. I'll be putting up episodes as they air.
You can view the official UPN site on it here:

Pre-Release discussion below.

Just a couple of notes.

Forest Whitaker will be hosting.
Jonathan Frakes directed the pilot episode. I don't know if that will be the first one aired.

By Brian Lombard on Thursday, September 19, 2002 - 5:55 am:

Oh man, let's get some episodes up here. Last night's premiere was fantastic. I loved "A Night At Mercy." That was awesome.

By MikeC on Thursday, September 19, 2002 - 7:55 am:

It was pretty good, and even though I could predict what was going to happen, the performances and dialogue made it work.

By Butch Brookshier (Bbrookshier) on Thursday, September 19, 2002 - 6:21 pm:

Boards for the episodes are now up.

By VH2 on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - 11:26 pm:

Where's the board for "It's Still a Good Life"?

By Brian Lombard on Thursday, February 20, 2003 - 5:59 am:

Seriously. Put that episode up.

By Jon Wade on Thursday, February 20, 2003 - 11:12 am:

And "Monsters on Maple Street," too!
Both really good episodes.

By Butch the Moderator on Thursday, February 20, 2003 - 4:32 pm:

Sorry, I'm a few episodes behind on my watching. I'll get them up in the near future.

By Butch the Moderator on Friday, February 21, 2003 - 11:44 pm:

Those episodes are now up.

To say it simply, UPN has cancelled The Twilight Zone.

By Anonymous on Saturday, May 31, 2003 - 5:38 am:

Of course it was a well written show with
good stories (not saying 100%) and well acted.
Why not cancel it.

By Todd Pence on Monday, September 20, 2004 - 12:41 pm:

I see that this is now out on DVD. The box I saw in the store boasted that the DVD set contained "All 43 episodes", but there are 44 listed here on this board.

By Anonymous on Monday, September 20, 2004 - 10:38 pm:

Also, for some reason the series has turned up in syndication. The local WB affilate here has been airing it late night on the weekends.

How in the blue hell a show that only lasted a single season could make it to syndication is beyond me.

Even more beyond me is why they'd want to air this version instead of the original. Or does Sci-Fi channel have exclusive control over the original?

By Adam Bomb on Saturday, January 01, 2005 - 8:07 pm:

Or does Sci-Fi channel have exclusive control over the original?
Yes, Sci-Fi has the original Zone exclusively, and has since c. 1994 or '95. Star Trek is also exclusive to Sci-Fi, and has been since 9/1/98.
Some one-season shows do get syndicated, despite a skimpy number of episodes. Time Tunnel was syndicated upon its cancellation in 1967. Hell, Cop Rock turns up occasionally on Trio, even there are only 10 or so episodes. With more and more cable channels looking to fill air time, anything is fair game.

There were 43 "stories" during the run of "The Twilight Zone" on UPN (2002-2003). For 21 show airings, 2 half hour stories aired back-to-back to fill the hour (42 total episodes). For one airing, one full hour story aired ("The Lineman", October 23, 2002). That's the 43 episodes. As for why some episode listings reflect 44 episodes, it's because those listings are, in my opinion, incorrectly considering "The Lineman" as two episodes. "The Lineman" was not a two-part story of which both parts were aired back-to-back. "The Lineman" was a one hour story.

Thie series now airs on MyNetwork, Wednesdays from 9 - 10 p.m. (E.T.)

By Tim McCree (Tim_m) on Saturday, July 25, 2020 - 5:31 am:

Forest Whitaker was a good host, but he'll never stack up to Rod Serling in my books.

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Saturday, March 04, 2023 - 8:59 am:

Charles Aidman and Robin Ward (of The Starlost) were the off-screen narrators of the '80s version. Aidman was the narrator for the CBS episodes; when additional episodes were made to fill out a syndication package, Aidman was replaced by Ward. I'm not sure if Ward replaced Aidman's narration for the CBS episodes.

By Tim McCree (Tim_m) on Sunday, March 05, 2023 - 5:46 am:

Forest Whitaker was the first onscreen host since Serling himself.

One of the few good things about the CBS All Access version was Jordan Peele.
