Not sure if this is the right episode,since I don't know the titles, but I recently saw the one from the first season where Bridger destroyed the SeaQuest to seal the Earth's crust which had been ripped open by the Global Power Project.

Lucas' father says that the project cost a hundred billion dollars, but they also say that the power is free for everyone. So is this project being paid for by a governmental body of some kind? I should think that if it was a private project they would not give the power away.

Why not spread out the electric turbines in two or three different places around the world instead of just having them near Australia?

A mayday call was sent out while SeaQuest was evacuated, but no one was shown coming to their aid, and it looked like the crew ended up on an Australian beach.
