Haven't actually read this one yet, but this seems to be a good place to mention this point. Namely, the numbers of all the militaries hanging around are getting unrealistic. We've got Rand's horde of Aeil, the Shaido Aeil off hither and yond, the Seanchan parked in the southwest, Egwene's army outside Tar Valon, a bunch of Borderlanders coming from the north, and probably a couple of others that I can't think of right off. Each of these number in up to tens of thousands. How are they getting fed, considering the screwy weather patterns Randland has suffered? In the first book, there was an extended winter. Starting in the fifth book, there was a continent-wide drought that lasted until the eighth book, which broke into a blizzard. Not exactly prime crop growing conditions.
Just started reading this myself, you've forgotten the whitecloaks and Masema's dargonsworn! I've was wondering how eveyone was being fed myself...maybe we've under estetimated the hardiness of the world's crops
When Rand announces his plan to cleanse saidin to Lan and Nynaeve, Lan asks if it was possible to do in the first place, why didn't they do it in the Age of Legends. This has struck me as a rather boneheaded question. Consider that once it was realized there was a taint, all the male Aes Sedai were too busy blowing things all to Hell.
This may or may not be a nit, but it is certainly curious. While Rand and Elayne are engaging in some naughty fun, Min comments that she had a viewing that Elayne would give birth to twins as a result. Yet whenever Elayne thinks about it afterwords, she refers to it as her child. Singular.
