Have we forgotten about D&D and the Forgotten Realms? Are they not fantasy as well? Drizzt Do'Urden is probably one of the most well known non-Tolkien characters in fantasy history yet I see no real mention of him here!
He's shown up on LICC now. Thanks to who? Brian Webber no doubt.
LICC?
Keep in mind that I can't keep track of every fantasy novel out there. If you think there's a fantasy author or fantasy series that should be here, just email me and ask nicely. If I say yes, send a complete list of the books by that author/in that series. A friendly reminder from the Evil, All-Powerful Moderator.
Douglas - LICC = League of Intergalactic Cosmic Champions, an adventure board on this site.
And Drizzt Do'Urden was not brought into LICC, Brian Webber just decided to post under that name...
So who is Drizzt Do'Urden anyway?
Drizz (as he's known to his friends) is a drow elf who tired of the evils of his subterrainian homeland and ventured to the surface where to make a long story short he became a ranger, befriended the a dwarven king and a barbarian tribe and lived out his life. R.A. Salvatore wrote very heavily about him and are some of the best books about the Forgotten Realms.
The PC game Baldur's Gate, from Bioware in conjunction with Forgetten Realms, has this fella in the game. I got hooked on it and am now again interested in reading some fantasy books, even though not long ago I started Tom Clancy's Executive Orders, which is 1,358 pages long and I haven't reached 200 yet. So, do I finish it or read some fantasy first now? Hmm. The mind boggles.
How many Drizzt books are there now.
I do have the Homeland-Exile-Sojourn trilogy, and I know he appeared in the Icewind Dale trilogy.
There was at least two or three others, one of which was called 'The Legacy'.
Legacy was one of the books in the Legacy of the Drow series (four books).
There also is the Paths of Darkenss series (Silent Blade, Spine of the World, Servant of the Shard, and Sea of Swords) all available in paperback now, plus book one of a NEW trilogy starring the dark ranger, The Hunter's Blades, entitled The Thousand Orcs (and trust me, the cover does the main plot justice. YIKES!) is out in hardcover.
