This is probably my favorite book of the series because it is told from the point of view of the man who became Satan, and it shows him fulfilling a very important role in the battle of good and evil. It also ties together the previous books and explains how they are connected.

Actually it was the third book(Tangled Skein) that established that all of the Incarnations were (would eventually be) connected in their personal lives as well as their professional "lives," and that Luna was the key.

However, this is the one that most clearly explains the religious philosophy of the Incarnations universe.

Two other points.

1) It is interesting how, after the Father aspect of the triparte Christian God split off from Yaweh, He still remained, though deminished. And that He and Satan could be friends. To think that the Holocaust was not a total gencide only because Satan did everything he could to save the Jews.

2) Why did Night want the boy? Is she finally ready to retire and let her Office become an Incarnation? Did Anthony leave this an open question so that he would have an "opening" if he ever decided to revisit the series?

Oops-

It's too long since I read the series.

That second point belongs to And Eternity, not here. Moderator, please edit the post to remove the paragraph, or delete the post. I don't want to "spoil" anyone.
