The best (IMHO) of the Space Trilogy, this book poses a theoretical situation (based on the newly developing culture of Venus, an ocean world of floating islands):

What if the serpant had a counterpoint in Eden? An anti-tempter, as it were, arguing for God's side of the situation?

A highly compelling read, and unfortunately, due to the generally clothesless condition of Eden, the least likely to ever become a movie.
