Fantasical Fantasy Links

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Fantasy Novels: Fantasical Fantasy Links
What we want here are links to web sites related to any of the authors mentioned here that are unusual. Don't link to sites that just have the person's reviews of the books and boring stuff like that. We want stuff that is unique. Click on formatting to find out how to create a link if you don't know how already and when making one, don't forget the http://

First, there's The Wheel of Time Humor Archive, with offerings such as The Dark One's Dictionary (a parody of that semi-useless glossary in the back of each Wheel of Time novel) and the Tarmon Gaidon Bowl (the Last Battle as a football game).

Let's get things going again in this section. Recently, I came across a website where some folks are attempting to create a complete fantasy world. And when I say complete, I mean complete. It's at: http://www.santharia.org.uk

Please note that the URL of the Santharian Dream (mentioned above) has changed to http://welcome.to/santharia - and I can strongly recommend visiting it at its new location! You won't regret it:)

Who wants to play the Lord of the Rings Home Game? http://www.speakeasy.org/~ohh/lotrgame.htm

How many folks remember the Lone Wolf game books? There's a free official site that's working on making them available on the Internet. http://www.projectaon.org

Around the same time that Lone Wolf came out, ICE published a similar series of games/interactive novels set in Tolkien's Middle Earth. They offered suggestions for converting the character generated from these books to their Middle Earth game and vice-versa.

I used those suggestions as a guideline to convert my Middle Earth character to Lone Wolf. It actually played well, without too many easy passes, or impossible obstacles. There were a couple of spells/abilities that I needed to be a little creative in matching up, but most of them fell directly in place.

I especially appreciated being able to carry over my spider-silk undershirt. (Armor points without actual armor, so I could still add a full set when necessary)

It's time to take The Wheel of Time Sex Quiz. Warning: This quiz is rated PG-13. I got nine out of ten. I didn't get the last one, but I think that should be considered an opinion question.

Do you think that Bored of the Rings sucks? Course you do. That's because it was written by people who were at best indifferent to the source material. However, here's a far superior parody written by people who care. Even my mom, who's a borderline psychotic Tolkien purist, thinks it's funny.

Want to know what your name would be if you lived in Middle Earth. Then try out the Middle Earth Name Generator.
