I just finished reading this, and I loved it! I live in Angel City, so I really appreciated parts of it...

For the record:
There is a Hospital in West Hills (my home town!).
There is an industrial/office park at Mason and Nordhoff.
There really is a "The Second Blvd" in LA, but it is in Spanish (El Segundo Blvd).
Traffic on the San Diego Freeway I-405 (the St. James freeway) really is horrible almost all day, especially around the Airport.
North American Aviation (later Rockwell International, now Boeing) has the Rocketdyne division in Canoga Park in the Valley.
Lockheed (Loki) was based next to the Burbank airport.
There is a landfill in the North Valley (not in Chatsworth, and certainly not on Devonshire).

DeSoto (the Soto) Ave, Winnetka Ave, Devonshire Street, Ventura (Venture) Blvd, Plummer St., and the Ventura US-101 Freeway (Venture freeway) all exist at the locations Turtledove describes.

In general, a fun romp!

Well it should be noted that Turtledove is a lifelong resident of Southern California, so the accuracy shouldn't be too suprising.
