Well, here it is. The last episode of Futurama to air on FOX. I hope the rumored 2 dozen or so unaired episodes will air in syndication.
PS Does anyone know if it will be syndicated in the States. Does anyone know if there are enough episodes to do this.
Incidentally, I checked the Futurama page at tvguide.com . They list this episode as #58. According to Cinescape #58 (March 2002) there are approxamately 16 episodes unaired. That would make a total of 74 episode just above the magic syndication number of 65.
Since Alley McBeal has been cancelled maybe they should retitle Futurama "Single Female Lawyer" & run it in the same time slot?
What's this about the last episode? I haven't heard anything about that.
I liked it it does a great job of paying homage to the classic trek and its fans.
To awnser Rene, I believe production has stopped on futurama, but fox plans to show one more season from there stock pile of unaired episodes.
I wish they would just release the show so someone else could pick it up.
Fantastic episode.
Every bit of it worked.
Yeah, I thought it was great too.
Absolutely hilarious episode.
I hope we get a repeat of it at some point, though... I forget to tape it.
The closing credits were a riot, especially how they had Kiff as Balok for the last shot
Is this the episode where they meet up with evil future guy™?
If so, I love the part where Fry and him have a beer together then he accidently tells Doc Oc how to do genetic enhansments and Bruce ends up with a pair on wings and eyes in the back of his head , a very cute episode.
Um...you're obviously confused.
According to this episode, the words Star Trek are forbidden. However, I recall that Hermes once characterized the DOOP by referring to "your Star Trek program."
Actually this was brought up on the Futurama boards, the Hermes coment was not in public and the other comments on Star Trek were on the internet... where it doesn't matter if it is illegal.
When they get rid of the tapes, it's an Eagle from Space:1999 that shoots them to Omega III.
I saw this episode on vacation and I thought it was a RIOT!
The scenery that was used on the planet was from "Spectre of the Gun", "City on the Edge of Forever" & "Arena". (From what I could see)
Kirk (Shatner) ripping his shirt & making out with Leela was hysterical.
The game show part was funny...especially when Shatner yelled, "Khan! Khan!" (ST II)
Of course, the Red Shirt gets attacked by the entity.
Fry is put on trial for going to the Forbidden Planet.
The bell in the court room changes tones from the first time it's rung to the 2nd time.
NANJAO: The ship in which the TOS crew leaves on is the "Phoenix" from "Star Trek: First Contact"
TOS sets seen on planet....
Wild West Scene from "Spectre of the Gun"
The Guardian from "City on the Edge of Forever"
The arena from "Bread & Circuses"
The domed table from "Gamesters of Triskelion"
The "Arena" planet from "Arena"
The battleground area from "The Savage Curtain"
The Bridge set
Other TOS references....
The Jefferies Tube (Bender seen inside working)
The ship leaving orbit of the planet like the TOS Enterprise
Music from "Amok Time", "The Doomsday Machine"
Kirk (Shatner) rips his shirt & kisses Leela
The ship fires its "phasers" like the TOS Enterprise
The ship coming towards the camera & departing the camera's view like the TOS Enterpise at the end
Pike's chair
The "Court Martial" judge's stand.
The hand of energy grabbing the ship (Who Mourns For Adonais?")
Non-corporeal entity like "Obsession" cloud & had a "Mom" as seen in "The Squire of Gothos"
At one point Nichelle Nichols says: "The guy who played Scotty..."
Uh...who wrote this dumb line & why didn't they know Scotty's alter-ego (James Doohan) and why didn't Nichelle Nichols tell the writer "His name is James Doohan"?
Maybe for some reason Doohan didnt want his name associated with this show? I wouldnt exactly know why as he has usually been pretty cool at Conventions from what I've heard.
According to the audio commentary, when he asked to do the show, he said, "No way".
I wonder if his response had anything to do with working with other members of the TOS crew. There's been rumors of bitterness between members of TOS. And if that's true, I hope they get over it at James Doohan's farewell party.
I thought Nichols comment was a return-joke of the scene in STIV, where a relation between Scotty and Uhura is hinted at - they eat sandwiches on the bridge during repair job - and Nichols wanted to show the opposite, where she doesn't even know the name of Scotty's actor.
First of all... that was Star Trek V, not IV.
Second... I doubt that they were trying for such an obscure reference.
The episode was written by David A. Goodman (Enteprise writer and self-professed Trek fan). Of course he knew Doohan's name. Even if he didn't, someone could have looked it up. Chances are Doohan wouldn't allow them to use his name.
Well, Doohan's name was mentioned once. When Shatner and Nimoy spoke of him throwing a shoe at the enemy, Nimoy said, "You mean Doohan?"
Maybe the words "Star Trek" are forbidden in "public" on Earth, but no reason why Hermes couldn't say them in private or off of the Earth.
I thought it was the best episode of the whole series, and I think I'd buy the DVD compilation just for that one episode! My wife and I also like the scene on Decapod Ten where the National Anthem is played... that's one thing that got us interested in watching the series. Up to then, we'd only caught bits during commercial breaks in programs on other stations.
Knowing that Leela is a human being makes earlier episodes a bit more interesting, especially when Fry and Leela are on trial on the robot planet.
My wife and I think Leela is a really nice character, because she's intelligent, level-headed, sensitive, and really is the best choice as captain of the Planet Express. All the others around her seem to have one problem dragging them down. Leela would be the manager of her own pizza franchise, or the manager of Purolator, or the manager of the phone company or whatever.
What happened after they found the Nimbus? The court-martial started on the Planet Express ship, Leela points out they're still under attack from Melllvar and there's no sign of the Nimbus during the battle that continues.
