In this episode, they mention that cats were once worshiped in Ancient Egypt....this is true.

However, why do they give credence to this religion and not the Bible?

Who is it that gives it credence, and how do they do so?

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Sunday, January 02, 2011 - 6:10 am:

The creators of the series.

They seem to acknowledge the facts regarding the pagan religions, but not the facts of the Bible.

They should be fair and give credence to both.

Otherwise, steer away from religious topics.

They've mentioned religious ideas, but I don't think that's the same thing as giving credence to them.

Haven't they also referenced Catholicism, Judaism, and general ideas about the Judeo-Christian God?

In "Godfellas", Bender is seen as a god by the beings who develop on his body, and undertakes different actions under this idea, all of which seems to be references to modern belief in God. He then encounters an benevolent intelligence that he takes to be God. During the same episode, Fry goes to a Church, which seems to be an amalgamation of several religions, as the priest he talks to is called Father Changstein El-Gamal, or something to that effect.

In the beginning of "Future Stock", Fry crashes a "Bot Mitzvah", a robot gathering that appears to be based on Jewish customs.

A couple of episodes reference God, Jesus and Satan. In one, for example, Leela mentions that the second coming of Jesus occurred centuries ago. And Robot Devil is a recurring character.

Futurama is just a satirical comedy, so they make fun of everything. I mean they indicated that fans of Star Trek and Oprah Winfrey turned those past times into religions, so personally, I regard their references to religion as anything other than attempts at humor.
