2ACV14- Mothers' Day

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Futurama: Season Two: 2ACV14- Mothers' Day
It's Mother's day in New New York, and Mom isn't happy. She decides to conquer the world, using her robot children as an army of loyal followers. When the robots go "berserk", Mom's henchmen/sons come to Planet Express to get Prof. Farnsworth to help get Mom to end the robot revolt. Farnsworth tries to seduce Mom to get the remote that will end the revolt. Mom finally activates the remote and the revolt ends.

Moral: No matter what crisis befalls mankind: Aliens, Evil Robots, Garbage Balls from space, Pottery Barn will be there to help.

Observation: It appears that Bender is the only one on the show that has a Mom.

The thought of caressing Mom's leathery skin make's his tapioca rise. So Farnsworth is part Founder? ;-)

The card sounded a little like Lisa Simpson. (Mind went blank on the actress' name.)

By Jason on Sunday, May 14, 2000 - 9:33 pm:

Mom hasn't changed very much in seventy years, has she?

By KAM on Sunday, May 14, 2000 - 9:49 pm:

Women are more concerned with their appearance. She probably had plastic surgery to keep herself looking so young. ;-)

By ScottN on Monday, May 15, 2000 - 9:16 am:

Kam - Yeardly Smith (I Think).

By ScottN on Monday, May 15, 2000 - 9:17 am:

OOps.. just checked IMDB. I got the spelling wrong...

Yeardley Smith.

By allegra on Monday, May 15, 2000 - 9:51 pm:

I think this is the first cartoon I've ever seen which showed NAKED human beings.
And I also thought the greeting card sounded like Lisa simpson. I tried hard to read what was written on that card. to no avail.
...breif me, anyone?

By A on Monday, May 15, 2000 - 9:52 pm:

I before e...oops

By Kieth, I mean, Keith on Monday, May 15, 2000 - 10:15 pm:

Oh, Ccabe. It's Conquer, not conqure. Her robot children, not he robot children. Berserk, not bizerk. Planet Express, not Plenet Express.

Mom's henchmen are her three sons. Farnsworth does not get the remote. He is distracted by Mom's leathery skin and forgets about the remote.

Amy has a mother and father that we've seen twice.

I wonder if the robot's patriotism program (When Aliens Attack) could have overridden Mom's berserker command?

Allegra: You must not watch many cartoons. This show & the Simpsons have had naked humans onscreen.

By Charles Cabe (Ccabe) on Tuesday, May 16, 2000 - 1:18 pm:

Keith, I've fixved the errors. And, I admit I forgot about Amy's Mom. I should have said "Bender appears to be the only one who loves his Mommy". In "A Flight to Remember", Amy is obuiously not happy about travelling with he parents. Possibly because the are a bit overeager to marry her off.

By Allegra on Tuesday, May 16, 2000 - 2:15 pm:

K.I.M.K: Oh, man. you're right. I totally forgot about the Simpsons. You are also right that I don't watch many cartoons.

By Musca domestica on Thursday, May 18, 2000 - 1:02 pm:

I thought this episode was sort of week. Still It was nice to see EVERY robot that had apeared on the show in a cameo.(including Tom & Crow).
Allegra: I take it you have never seen any Anime...

By Merat on Monday, May 22, 2000 - 10:37 pm:

Mom's fat suit disappears in a manner very similar to the masks on StarGate.

By Mike on Monday, May 22, 2000 - 10:38 pm:

So....if Bender hadn't had his antenna re-attached, then he wouldn't have rebelled?

By Chris Thomas on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 - 2:56 am:

He probably would have; the toaster and garbage disposal didn't have antennas and they were rebelling.

By Douglas Nicol on Sunday, December 22, 2002 - 11:14 am:

Allegra, it also happened in South Park once, the episode with the Romanian Quintuplets.

By Douglas Nicol on Sunday, December 22, 2002 - 11:21 am:

Isn't it strange that Professor Farnsworth has a problem with Mom making large cuddly death toys, but he wants to breed atomic monsters. :)

By John A. Lang on Wednesday, August 13, 2003 - 10:27 am:

BEST LINE: The remote control is in her....(whispering) bra! One of Mom's biological sons to Farnsworth.

By John A. Lang on Wednesday, August 13, 2003 - 12:17 pm:

Mom is a shifty old scag. She is already extremely wealthy, yet, she programmed the robots to send her money on Mother's Day.

By John A. Lang on Tuesday, August 26, 2003 - 12:20 pm:

Great confusion surrounds as to this question: "Who is Bender's mom?"

In "Xmas Story", Bender gets an Xmas card from his mom. It includes a picture. The picture is of a machine.
Yet in this story he says that "Mom" is his mom.

By Rene on Sunday, August 31, 2003 - 3:10 pm:

Since he was made at the company where Mom works, Bender considers her his mom. But his mom in "Xmas story" would be the one directly responsible for his creation.
