Marina Sirtis

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: NextGen: Cast & Characters: The Cast: Marina Sirtis
By Sven of Nine on Sunday, May 12, 2002 - 1:57 pm:

She's a 'Spurs fan, apparently, in her native Lahndahn.

By Adam Bomb on Thursday, May 16, 2002 - 11:25 am:

I understand Ms. Sirtis will soon be divorced. True?

By LUIGI NOVI on Thursday, May 16, 2002 - 2:11 pm:

Yeah. She wants me.

:)

By Nick Angeloni (Nangeloni) on Thursday, May 16, 2002 - 2:49 pm:

Didn't hear about this one at all. Of course, I didn't realize that Alexander Siddig and Nana Visitor had divorced either...

By Peter on Thursday, May 16, 2002 - 2:51 pm:

Her soon to be ex-husband looks a weird guy.

By Sven of MINE on Thursday, May 16, 2002 - 2:55 pm:

Sirtis AND Visitor divorcees?

Hands off! They're mine!
:O

By kerriem. on Thursday, May 16, 2002 - 5:52 pm:

Hey, cut the ex-husband some slack. He may be 'weird' from the male perspective...but all you really need to do is cut off that Michael Bolton-esque mane and you've got definite possibilities there. :)

What gets me is Visitor and Siddig divorcing. How long did that last, post-DS9? Couple of years?

By Electron on Thursday, May 16, 2002 - 6:12 pm:

According to the IMDB they divorced in April 2001.

By John A. Lang on Friday, May 17, 2002 - 4:08 am:

Marina Sirtis divorcing ALREADY? She was married less than a year! And let me say this too...

HANDS OFF, SHE'S MINE! :O

By Sven of Nine, with a cunning plan on Friday, May 17, 2002 - 6:17 am:

JAL: HANDS OFF, SHE'S MINE!

Tell you what... you can have Marina, and I'll take Nana. :)

By Adam Bomb on Friday, May 17, 2002 - 7:21 am:

I hoped you guys were kidding about Visitor and Siddig, but I guess not. She had their baby in late 1996 or early '97, and they married soon afterward. Therefore, it lasted a bit more than four years.
Kerrie: Marina's husband looks like he was David Spade's double in the movie "Joe Dirt," with the mullet and all. Michael Bolton lost the locks a few years ago, and I think he looks the better for it.
If Marina's marriage lasted less than a year, he may not be her first husband. I remember her doing a "Star Trek" collectibles show on QVC in 1992, and a man identifying himself as her husband called in. She called him "Michael."
To John, Sven and Luigi: HANDS OFF! THEY'RE BOTH MINE!!!

By ScottN on Friday, May 17, 2002 - 9:33 am:

Fight amongst yourselves. I'm happily married :O

By LUIGI NOVI on Friday, May 17, 2002 - 12:19 pm:

Forget it, Adam. I met her, so I have dibs. :)

By Adam Bomb on Friday, May 17, 2002 - 12:36 pm:

Then I will have Kim Parrish and Lisa Robertson of QVC. I will watch those two lovelies anytime; I don't care what they are hawking. J

By LUIGI NOVI on Friday, May 17, 2002 - 4:13 pm:

John A. Lang: Marina Sirtis divorcing ALREADY? She was married less than a year!
Luigi Novi: What do you mean? They were married in June of 1992.

By John A. Lang on Friday, May 17, 2002 - 7:07 pm:

Really? Wow. My goof. For those 18 and older, you can see Marina in "all of her glory" in "The Wicked Lady" (rated R for nudity & sex)

By LUIGI NOVI on Friday, May 17, 2002 - 7:14 pm:

And Death Wish 3.

By Adam Bomb on Sunday, May 19, 2002 - 3:50 am:

"Death Wish 3" was ridiculous. Although it was set in Brooklyn, it was filmed in London, and it shows. Bronson was too old for that stuff, even in 1985.
I think Marina had one line - "AAAAHHHHH."

By Kerriem (Kerriem) on Sunday, May 19, 2002 - 8:15 am:

Yep.
There's a (very funny) savaging of the film at jabootu.com in which the reviewer theorizes that since Sirtis' character was supposed to be Hispanic, and she of course speaks in that distinctive soft Greek/British accent, the creators just skipped the whole issue by having her not speak at all.

Besides, it's not like she needed to. Basically, the character functions as a sweet, helpless prop to help demonstrate the bad guys' various badnesses, and thus their consequent need to be blown away by Bronson.

By Adam Bomb on Sunday, May 19, 2002 - 5:44 pm:

I have seen four of the "Death Wish" movies. I think it was ironic that Paul Kersey (the Bronson character) never got the bad guys who triggered his vigilantism in the first place; namely, the NYC punks who killed his wife and raped his daughter. (Sorry to get off topic.)
In Marina's "Voyager" appearances, her accent was closer to that she uses normally, not the unique one she used in "Next Gen."

By Adam Bomb on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 - 12:24 pm:

Here's a new flick that stars both Marina Sirtis and Linda Park. It's original title is Spectres, but it's being run on the "Lifetime Movie Network" under the title Soul Survivor.

By John A. Lang on Thursday, June 16, 2005 - 4:39 am:

The only reason I'd buy it on DVD is to see Marina.

I'm not into spooky movies.

By Josh M on Thursday, June 16, 2005 - 9:19 am:

She's also in Crash which is out in theaters right now.

By Anonymous on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 - 4:35 pm:

Marina has definitely hit the wall. She looks awful in Nemesis.

By Brian FitzGerald on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 - 5:58 pm:

I met her at Dragon Con this year and she was still really sexy in person.

By John A. Lang on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 - 6:43 pm:

Yeah! Don't bad talk "my woman"!

By JohnBoy on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 - 7:24 pm:

She looks REALLY awful in the new interviews on the DVDs for Nemesis, Inserrection and the Next Generation Season sets!

I guess some women don't grow old "Gracefully"! Maybe she should have used some Oil of Olay! :)

By R on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 - 8:33 pm:

She isnt that bad, but she isnt as hot as she was. Thats what happens when people age.

Also I didnt think she looked that good in nemesis, almost like they where trying to hide her getting older (workign off memories here) like they did shatner et all in the motion picture. Too much makeup and focus and lighting tricks, unfortunately it just made her look ...not as good as she could.

By John A. Lang on Thursday, November 17, 2005 - 7:21 am:

*Putting hands over ears*

LA LA LA LA LA LA!!!!

I'M NOT LISTENING!

By Brian FitzGerald on Thursday, November 17, 2005 - 9:25 am:

John at Dragon*Con she was wearing tight pants and a low cut shirt and was still smoking hot.

By John A. Lang on Thursday, November 17, 2005 - 10:19 am:

*DROOL!* *DROOL!*

By Butch Brookshier (Bbrookshier) on Friday, November 18, 2005 - 4:33 pm:

One post moved to the Garbage Dump.

By Benn on Thursday, November 17, 2005 - 10:17 pm:

I think we get the point, J-B. You don't like Marina. (Or many of the women John Lang likes.) It's just a matter of differences in tastes.

Just two things: Keep in mind that as you get older, you may find women of that age to be more attractive than you do now. It's a scary thought, I'm sure, but it could very well happen.

And out of curiosity, just who all do you think is hot?

Live long and prosper.

By John-Boy on Friday, November 18, 2005 - 5:27 pm:

I think Troi was hot back on the show, after they put her in a standard uniform. Seven of Nine, Dr Crusher in the later seasons, Ezri Dax, Rom's wife, Kes after she grew long hair in the 3rd season, Torris in some episodes, Kira in a Starfleet uniform, Kekio in some episodes, Ro in some episodes. Im sure I'm forgetting someone. And I don't Drool everytime I see one of these ladies either. I stopped doing stuff like that in my late teens.

By John A. Lang on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 - 8:24 pm:

According to Marina Sirtis on the season 2 DVD, she noted that she was DELIBERATELY "written out" of certain episodes during season 1 ("Datalore" & "Hide & Q")

SCUMS!

By Kevin Nash on Tuesday, August 01, 2006 - 8:41 am:

Did she give a reason for why she was written out?

On a somewhat related note, TNG was one of the slowest shows at developing characters. It took several years for the writer to give Troi any real depth to her character.

By Anonymous on Tuesday, August 01, 2006 - 9:47 am:

yeah, like 6 years... It wasn't until she actually started wearing a regulation uniform...

By John A. Lang on Tuesday, August 01, 2006 - 7:55 pm:

Unfortunately, no...she just said she was deliberately written out.

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Sunday, October 07, 2007 - 2:46 am:

Marina summed up her 1st season dialogue with 3 words: "He's hiding something".

By LUIGI NOVI (Lnovi) on Sunday, October 07, 2007 - 9:30 pm:

I was hiding something every time Marina came on screen.

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Monday, October 08, 2007 - 6:48 am:

SUMMARY:

Meeting Marina in person at the convention was a dream come true.
(You all knew I was going to say that, right?)

She was everything I expected her to be and then some. In my opinion, she's prettier and sexier in real life than on TV/movies.

If the internet is correct, she's 52 now. If so, she's one of the hottest 52 year old women on the face of the Earth. She takes real good care of herself

Regretfully, I didn't have much time to talk to her one-on-one, but I'm more than happy just to have been with her those few moments. I'll never forget it.

I'd like to say, "Hands off, she's mine", but after meeting her I've come to realize, she's out of my league and never in reality will be "mine". However, I'll still pretend "she's mine"

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 - 3:56 pm:

I have a theory as to why Marina was "written out" of certain episodes.

Marina mentioned at the convetion that TPTB could not afford to have both Marina & Denise in some of the episodes at the same time due to the cost of special effects and other stuff for that episode.
(IE: "11001001")

By Torque, Son of Keplar on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 - 6:53 pm:

Are you saying that having Marina in a heavy special effects episode would only illustrate how phoney those effects looked when compared to how sparkling and dazzling Troi looked?

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 - 7:00 pm:

Exactly. :-)

Seriously now, it probably had more to do with Denise Crosby "counting her lines" incident than anything else. (See Denise Crosby board)

In other words, they took Marina out to give Denise more to do and say.

By Torque, Son of Keplar on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 - 8:07 pm:

Its kind of interesting how they both played romulans later in the series.

By Sam on Friday, December 28, 2007 - 8:10 am:

Wouldn't they have both been on a regular contract, and therefore paid the same, however many episodes they appeared in? i.e., Sirtis got paid for doing nothing for those two episodes!

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Friday, December 28, 2007 - 11:30 am:

To be honest, I never understood celebrities, their contracts, their petty fights about:

"You got more lines than me", or
"You're getting paid more than me" or other crybaby issues and attitudes.

If I were on TV or in a movie, and if the contract guaranteed me over $500,000 for that part, I'd do my part, be happy and go home.

By the 74s tm on Saturday, December 29, 2007 - 10:10 am:

for years I watched Tos and Tng and Voyager (hated Enterprise) and Majel Barrett had no end credit until ds9- sometimes she says one word and gets her credit- sometimes no word and gets her credit- in Cost of Living she gets double credit as voice of computer and Luxwanna..for being the creators' wife has its advantages..

for Marina Sirtis she was a good counselor, I wish I had her for a 21st century counselor!

By Laforge the Useless on Saturday, December 29, 2007 - 10:23 am:

Say, Sam do you mind if I ask ya what was your first Trek and how old?

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Thursday, April 03, 2008 - 7:39 pm:

I still catch myself thinking about my encounter with Marina last October. Sometimes I can still feel her next to me.

By LUIGI NOVI (Lnovi) on Thursday, April 03, 2008 - 7:44 pm:

They have doctors and medication for that sorta thing, you know.

:-)

By Torque, Son of Kepla on Thursday, April 03, 2008 - 9:00 pm:

By a1215402145651 on Monday, July 07, 2008 - 5:49 am:

good 1215402145651

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Thursday, October 09, 2008 - 3:39 am:

Just for fun, I did a compatability check between Marina and myself:

Compatability

Physical 46%
Emotional 33%
Intellectual 65%
Total 48%

I like those numbers.

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Friday, January 01, 2010 - 12:33 am:

I can still pretend

By Callie (Csullivan) on Saturday, January 02, 2010 - 5:52 am:

No, it looks like you're a nasty horrid person who doesn't allow anyone else to have an imagination. There's nothing wrong with fantasy. Aspies don't understand such a thing, but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It can help people to get through the realities of life, so don't insult other people just because you don't understand.

By Brian FitzGerald (Brifitz1980) on Saturday, January 02, 2010 - 8:45 am:

Are you trying to get banned from the rest of nitcentral?

By Callie (Csullivan) on Saturday, January 02, 2010 - 12:05 pm:

Who, me or Andre?

Ah well, if I'm in trouble for speaking my mind, I don't mind.

By Brian FitzGerald (Brifitz1980) on Saturday, January 02, 2010 - 12:09 pm:

I was talking about Andre. A while back he made smiler posts on the "Friends" boards and Luigi banned him from all boards that he moderates.

By Rodney Hrvatin (Rhrvatin) on Saturday, January 02, 2010 - 3:08 pm:

Luigi doesn't moderate the Friends board- I do. Although he did ban him from his boards I also banned him from the Friends board.

By Andre Reichenbacher (Amr) on Saturday, January 02, 2010 - 7:47 pm:

What does that matter - I'm still allowed on this board, and as far as I'm aware, I am not violating any rules.

I just thought that I would be both blunt and candid with John - it seemed that he needed a dose of reality, that's all.

As for me? I have crushes on, or even lust after certain female celebrities. But I know that I will never get to be with them, romantically or sexually, as I am a realist. And I suppose having Asperger's adds to that. Thanks so much for pointing that out about me, Callie.

Anyway, Ms. Sirtis *used* to have it goin' on, but now she no longer does. That's all there is to it.

But she and Funny-Boy Frakes like to make a lot of jokes bout their co-stars at conventions, for some reason. When will they have the tables turned on them, and have them finally be the butt of a cruel joke?

That's what I wonder.

By Brian FitzGerald (Brifitz1980) on Saturday, January 02, 2010 - 9:56 pm:

Anyway, Ms. Sirtis *used* to have it goin' on, but now she no longer does. That's all there is to it.

I met her 4 years ago at Dragon*Con in Atlanta and thought that she was still hot, sweet and a real class act. She and LeVar Burton were donating all of the money that they made at that con to Hurricane Katrina relief.

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Sunday, January 03, 2010 - 6:01 am:

As I mentioned before, I saw her in 2007...as she's still hot hottie hot

By Andre Reichenbacher (Amr) on Monday, January 04, 2010 - 12:49 pm:

Well, to each their own, I suppose. I myself really like Scarlett Johansson, she is really smokin' hot, and only in her mid-20's. And yes, she can act and sing as well.

She will be in Iron Man 2 this year. I look forward to it. Robert Downey, Jr. is like, only 20 years older than her, but they will have some loves scenes, as far as I know. Nice work if you can get it, right?

So there you have it. I too can pretend I'm Ryan Reynolds, who gets to be with that hottie ScarJo.

Hey, I'm a guy, too. I'm not immune to having fantasies. I suppose I was little harsh with John and for that I apologize. I hope there will be no hard feelings.

About Marina Sirtis: yeah, she's attractive, I guess my taste in women leans elsewhere. Nuthin' wrong with that!

By Rodney Hrvatin (Rhrvatin) on Monday, January 04, 2010 - 5:10 pm:

You seem to like making a target of John. Not sure why. He's one of the nicest guys here. You make fun of him for liking Marina Sirtis. What I find enormously hypocritical of you Andre is that you then say you have a similar crush on Scarlett Johanssen. Once again you then blame your illness and extend the hand of friendship. How long until you shoot off again? What will you bully John about next time? If you do indeed have this disorder 9and I have no reason to think you don't) then seriously keep going on your meds.

By Andre Reichenbacher (Amr) on Monday, January 04, 2010 - 6:11 pm:

Yes, sir! Right away, sir!

Jeez Louise, that was brutal!

I already do take meds, and I really do have a condition that makes me awkward in certain social situations, as well as having a problem being tactful and sensitive to others.

I really am sorry that you, Benn, Luigi, and Callie have such a problem with me. But I don't take it personally, of course.

Incidentally, my favorite poster on NitCentral is Brian Fitzgerald. He's cool, he has posted to me about various topics, we have good conversations. I wonder where he is now.

Also, Brian likes Ms. Sirtis as well. That's OK, you guys can like whomever you want.

Are we cool? Or what?

By ScottN (Scottn) on Monday, January 04, 2010 - 9:26 pm:

That's OK, you guys can like whomever you want.

Gee, thanks.

By Andre Reichenbacher (Amr) on Monday, January 04, 2010 - 10:17 pm:

Oh, sorry, Scott. I forgot that you don't like me either.

Well, I guess I'm the most unpopular one on NC right now.

Do any of you miss Rona or Brian Webber yet?

By Andrew Gilbertson (Zarm_rkeeg) on Tuesday, January 05, 2010 - 6:54 am:

I dunno, Andre... I'll toss ya for the title of most unpopular! ;-)

By Andre Reichenbacher (Amr) on Tuesday, January 05, 2010 - 10:18 am:

Hey there, Andrew. Why are you unpopular here? I don't recall anyone saying that.

By Benn (Benn) on Tuesday, January 05, 2010 - 11:26 pm:

"I really am sorry that you, Benn, Luigi, and Callie have such a problem with me." - Andre Reichenbacher

That is a deceptive and somewhat self-serving way of putting things. At least where I'm concerned. I had no problem with you until you developed a hatred of me and began to insult me left and right. Prior to that, I had no real opinion of you.

By Rodney Hrvatin (Rhrvatin) on Wednesday, January 06, 2010 - 12:18 am:

...and I think you'll that the opinion expressed by Benn is pretty much echoed by myself and the others you mentioned.

By Callie (Csullivan) on Wednesday, January 06, 2010 - 3:35 am:

I believe that we only have a problem with the insults you direct at people. On some occasions, the way in which you write gives out an unfortunate attitude of "what I say goes", i.e. John ought to give up fantasising about Marina; Marina should only play British characters. Everyone here has opinions, of course, but sometimes the way in which you express yours makes them sound like directives.

It's nice that, when you get chastised by some posters and realise that you've been misinterpreted, you apologise, cos not a lot of people would. I don't have a problem with you, just the bossy way that you write sometimes!

By Andre Reichenbacher (Amr) on Thursday, January 07, 2010 - 6:07 pm:

I see. Well, thanks for letting me know.

Anyway, let's change the subject.

It seems that most Trek people, once the shows go off the air or the movies bomb (Insurrection & Nemesis, anyone?) they are no longer able to get work. No more Trek means the end of their careers, in most cases!

In fact, it was just like that for DeForest Kelley and James Doohan, once Trek VI had aired. They had no other acting work for the rest of their lives! And as for George Takei, he repeatedly embarressed himself on shock-jock radio or in incredibly bad reality TV!

I guess my point is, Marina has NO MORE WORK! Her career is basically over, and that's sad!

By Benn (Benn) on Thursday, January 07, 2010 - 6:29 pm:

Actually, IIRC, DeForest Kelley had retired from acting in the mid-90s, which is shortly after the last TOS film was made. But then again, considering how old Kelley and Jimmy Doohan were after The Undiscovered Country (they were in their 70s), just how many parts would have been open to them?

By Brian FitzGerald (Brifitz1980) on Thursday, January 07, 2010 - 8:25 pm:

I guess my point is, Marina has NO MORE WORK! Her career is basically over, and that's sad!

I would hardly say that. She did some great voice over work in Gargoyles immediately after TNG's end. She's guest starred in dozens of TV shows since. She's appeared in several independent and direct to video movies. She even produced 2 movies.
Per the IMDB she's got 8 gigs slated for release in 2009 and 2 from 2008.

By Brian FitzGerald (Brifitz1980) on Thursday, January 07, 2010 - 8:43 pm:

Incidentally, my favorite poster on NitCentral is Brian Fitzgerald. He's cool, he has posted to me about various topics, we have good conversations. I wonder where he is now.

Why thank you. As for where I was, I'd been working a lot this past week.

By Andre Reichenbacher (Amr) on Friday, January 08, 2010 - 10:43 am:

You're welcome, Brian. I like you and Andrew Gilbertson. He's been cool as well.

But I don't truly "hate" anybody here, to tell the truth. And I hope nobody here hates me as well.

By ScottN (Scottn) on Friday, January 08, 2010 - 1:17 pm:

It's not that I don't like you, though you did make a bad first impression. It's that you need to stop and *READ* what you've written and think if it comes across wrong(and yes, I'm as guilty as the next guy on that count).

Example, my above post. It looked like you were giving gruding permission for us to like whoever we liked. Hence, my comment.

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Friday, January 08, 2010 - 3:20 pm:

Marina also appeared on "Family Guy" with the rest of the STTNG cast.

Even in cartoon form, Marina is hot

By Andre Reichenbacher (Amr) on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 - 6:34 pm:

Yeah, I guess so.

So, why did she and Frakes do that incredibly bad Enterprise episode, anyway?

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 - 6:40 pm:

If it's any consolation, they hated that episode too.

By LUIGI NOVI (Lnovi) on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 - 8:24 am:

Yeah, except when they cash their residual checks from it. :-)

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 - 1:11 pm:

Here's an interview with Marina Sirtis, from Kougar magazine. Check out the photos accompanying the article. Definitely suitable for framing. (I can't believe she's 55, the same age I am.)

By ScottN (Scottn) on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 - 8:01 pm:

Oh my!

Hands off! She's Mine!!!

By Andre Reichenbacher (Amr) on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 - 8:21 pm:

Yeah yeah. Here we go again. Ho hum, yawnnnn, this is really getting qite tiresome.

So she's a hot older woman, even i don't deny that. But I think that maybe, perhaps, the constant worshipping her like a queen is a bit old hat by now. In my own opinion, of course.

I mean, where does she go from here, with the last TNG movie bombing the way it did, and Patrick Stewart being nearly 80, and Brent Spiner throwing in the towel the way he did?

Trust me, there is not going to be any more TNG, it's over, it's played out, they're all washed up.

Sorry to be blunt and brutally direct, but that's really how it is.

By Tim McCree (Tim_m) on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 - 11:37 pm:

Patrick Stewart being nearly 80

Actually, he's 70, so he has ten years to go. Besides, William Shatner is almost 80, and that doesn't seem to have slowed him down. The guy is everywhere!

Brent Spiner throwing in the towel the way he did

Huh??

By ScottN (Scottn) on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 - 11:40 pm:

Chill, Andre. My comment was simply appreciating how good she looked in the spread.

Deal with it.

By Rodney Hrvatin (Rhrvatin) on Thursday, August 26, 2010 - 4:12 am:

John Lang may just about pop a lung when he sees those pictures...

By Andre Reichenbacher (Amr) on Thursday, August 26, 2010 - 7:12 pm:

By "throwing in the towel" I meant that Spiner allowed and in fact lobbied for his much-loved character to be killed so he would not be forever typecast, much like Leonard Nimoy did back in the '80s. But he course, he changed his mind about it, which was probably a smart thing to do.

I didn't really care for the "emotion chip Data" from the movies, I much rather prefer the mostly emotionless, and therefore not annoying, version of Data from the series. Of course, the fact that the creators had him smiling and smirking all the time in the first two seasons was really quite irritating as well. Plus he would sometimes be "possessed by an alien being" or something, and then he'd be all weird and annoying all over again.

So that's why I said he threw the towel in, he's just plain sick of the role. And I don't blame him, nothing lasts forever, doncha know!

By Andre Reichenbacher (Amr) on Thursday, August 26, 2010 - 7:52 pm:

I meant that *Nimoy* changed his mind, not Spiner.

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Thursday, August 26, 2010 - 9:18 pm:

Saw the pics. Need new lungs

By Tim McCree (Tim_m) on Thursday, August 26, 2010 - 10:32 pm:

Well, if Spiner wanted out, how come B4 was created. Surely this was a way to bring Data back a la Spock.

By ScottN (Scottn) on Friday, August 27, 2010 - 9:00 am:

According to Nimoy's autobio, he did *NOT* lobby for Spock to be killed. It was either Harve Bennett or Nick Meyers who suggested it -- I can't remember which, and I don't have the book here.

By Andre Reichenbacher (Amr) on Monday, September 27, 2010 - 12:01 pm:

OK, thanks for clarifying, Scott. I suppose I was mistaken. It happens.

Anyway, it does seem as if the TNG era of Trek is over and done with for good. Oh well!

Anyway, it does seem as if the TNG era of Trek is over and done with for good.

Not just TNG, all the Rick Berman era shows are through. Kind of a shame that Deep Space Nine and Voyager never got to the big screen, but with the failure of Nemesis, I couldn't see Paramount bankrolling another 24th Century set movie.

The success of the JJ Abrams movie clearly shows they went in the right direction.

Yesterday (3/29/11) was Marina Sirtis' 56th birthday (she's four months and 25 days younger than me.) Here's some cool pictures, courtesy of TrekMovie.com. Including three in which she's standing with, I don't know, some middle-aged bald guy. (Maybe I'll break down and watch the Grey's Anatomy episode she did that first aired last week; first I have to see if it's available "On-Demand".)

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 - 8:09 pm:

OH, MY! Are these pictures recent? If so, Marina is aging BACKWARDS! OOH LA LA! MEOW! HUBBA HUBBA! DROOL! DROOL!

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Thursday, March 31, 2011 - 7:10 am:

Yes, they are recent; they were taken in January and February 2011.
I always have you in mind anytime I share anything regarding Ms. Sirtis I find on line, buddy. Glad you enjoy them.
The Grey's Anatomy episode she did, titled "This Is How We Do It," is available to watch on IMDB. And, it also is available "On-Demand" for the next few weeks. If your cable company carries "ABC On-Demand."

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Monday, April 04, 2011 - 2:15 pm:

I watched the first five or so minutes of the Grey's Anatomy episode Ms. Sirtis did. I didn't think much of it, probably because it's the first episode of the series I've seen, and I haven't a clue about the series' characters or what's going on with them. (Can I write a run-on sentence or what? ) Her character was introduced in those five minutes, lying on a hospital bed. I'm not so sure I'll even watch the rest of the episode.

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Monday, May 02, 2011 - 8:17 am:

Marina and Wil Wheaton were at FedCon 4 in Dusseldorf, Germany this past weekend. Here's an article and pics from TrekMovie.

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Monday, May 02, 2011 - 8:36 pm:

Saw pics...Marina still hot

By Brian FitzGerald (Brifitz1980) on Tuesday, May 03, 2011 - 12:30 am:

That she is. And from my own personal experience she's also a sweetheart and really flirty.

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Tuesday, May 03, 2011 - 3:33 pm:

Tell me about it. If you're on FACEBOOK, you can see the photo of Marina & me. She put her arm around me!

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Monday, November 28, 2011 - 10:04 am:

Here's a short interview with Ms. Sirtis posted on Trekmovie. Note that there's a couple of photos with familiar faces, and a link to a longer interview.

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Monday, November 28, 2011 - 5:26 pm:

That photo of Marina from Oct. 2011....

YEOWZA! HUBBA HUBBA! SHE'S GETTING SEXIER BY THE YEAR!

By ScottN (Scottn) on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 - 9:21 am:

You forgot to add something...

You know... "Hey Patrick Stewart ... HANDS OFF!!! SHE'S MINE!!!"

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 - 5:26 pm:

Yeah! Thanks!

By ScottN (Scottn) on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 - 9:06 pm:

Dude, chill. It's a running joke. Deal with it.

By Chris Booton (Cbooton) on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 - 5:59 pm:

A running joke that gets sexier each year :-).

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Wednesday, January 04, 2012 - 2:07 pm:

I just read this - There's apparently a fan movement to get Marina Sirtis on the next season of Dancing With The Stars. More here (scroll down.)

By AWhite (Inblackestnight) on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 - 10:24 am:

And all the other "stars" of that show have been well known and mainstream?

By Benn (Benn) on Saturday, March 30, 2013 - 5:42 pm:

Counselor Troi will be the new head of Mossad on NCIS. So does this mean it's now, "Hands Off! She's Mossad!"?

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Monday, May 20, 2013 - 9:10 pm:

So far...only one episode..."Berlin".

Whew! That's one dark character that she is playing.

By ScottN (Scottn) on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 - 10:22 am:

The real question, Benn, is... Does she sense hostility?

By Benn (Benn) on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 - 4:11 pm:

And then some, Scott.

And John, given her character is the new head of Mossad, I'm sure we'll see more of her in the next season.

"Hands off! She's Mossad!"

By Keith Alan Morgan (Kmorgan) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - 4:06 am:

What would John say if Marina was made of explosives?

"Hands off! She's a mine!"

*ducks from the thrown tomatoes*

By Benn (Benn) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - 6:50 am:

And Andre wonders why I want nothing to do with him anymore. Should be a bit self-explanatory right about now. ("Morons"?)

By Benn (Benn) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - 6:55 am:

Oh, and "Hands off! She's Mossad!"

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - 8:19 am:

quote:

What would John say if Marina was made of explosives?
"Hands off! She's a mine!"

*ducks from the thrown tomatoes*

That's pretty funny, actually. Keep it up.
(With apologies to John, of course.)

By Callie (Csullivan) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - 8:43 am:

What would John say if Marina stopped speaking and expressed herself with her hands?

"Hands off! She's a mime!"

*ducks behind Keith*

*is proud to be a moron*

By ScottN (Scottn) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - 9:18 am:

What would John say if Marina started coughing up diamonds?

"Hands off! She's a mine!"

(OK, that one wasn't so funny... deal).

By ScottN (Scottn) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - 9:19 am:

What would John say if Marina solved the riddle of Quantum Gravity?

"Hands off! She's a mind!"

By Benn (Benn) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - 9:39 am:

What would John say if Marina came into an unopened limited edition collector's item package?

"Hands off! She's mint!"

By Luigi_novi (Luigi_novi) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - 11:04 am:

Keith: What would John say if Marina was made of explosives?

"Hands off! She's a mine!"

Luigi Novi: Ah, but what would he say if she were handling a mine when it went off, causing massive damage to her extremities?

"Hands off!"

By ScottN (Scottn) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - 11:53 am:

If she was wearing a suicide vest, would he say,

"Hands off! She's Mined!!!!"

By ScottN (Scottn) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - 11:55 am:

What would John say if Marina was made of fermented grape juice?

"Hands off! She's Wine!"

By Francois Lacombe (Franc0is) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - 12:08 pm:

Groan!

By Luigi_novi (Luigi_novi) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - 1:14 pm:

What if she said her favorite films were those featuring Dennis Quaid and Lou Gossett, Jr.?

Hand's off! She's Enemy Mine!

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Thursday, December 01, 2016 - 7:19 pm:

I now have a full-size cardboard stand-up figure of Marina in my residence

By ScottN (Scottn) on Friday, December 02, 2016 - 10:17 am:

Why am I not surprised?

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Saturday, September 16, 2017 - 4:02 pm:

Saw Marina "Goddess" Sirtis again....still smoking hot

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Saturday, September 16, 2017 - 4:03 pm:

BTW...Marina is now an American citizen

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 - 9:53 am:

Another round of "Bullsh*t Or Not": According to this, Marina Sirtis was almost fired from Next Gen in season one. (Aren't you glad she wasn't, John? )

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Sunday, December 08, 2019 - 8:51 pm:

I just heard this; someone please verify. Marina Sirtis' husband of 27 years, Michael Lamper, has passed away. He was 61 and married to Ms. Sirtis for 27 years; I remember Lamper calling in when Ms. Sirtis was hosting a Trek memorabilia show on QVC in the mid-1990s.

By Tim McCree (Tim_m) on Sunday, December 08, 2019 - 10:48 pm:

It's true, Marina is a widow now.

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Saturday, February 20, 2021 - 8:41 am:

Ms. Sirtis has weighed in with her opinion about the current crisis in Texas. Her rhetoric may be a bit over the top, but the idea is valid. More here. (I assume what she said covers their 100% unfeeling, totally self-involved U.S. senator Ted Cruz.)
