I don't know where to post this. This seems ok, but...

This is either a reason to like Wil Smith or hate the Libertarians. (I haven't decided which.)
This is either a reason to like Wil Smith or hate the Libertarians. (I haven't decided which.)
And what does Wil Wheaton (ST:TNG, Stand By Me) being a Libertarian have to do with Wil Smith (Fresh Prince, MiB, Ali, Independence Day...)?
Oh, and the decision should be the former, not the later.
Oops, sorry for the typo or brain fart or whatever. My buzz.

note from the moderator, the interview this link is to contains some adult language.
I'm a bit surprised that Wil Wheaton would choose to affiliate himself with the Libertarian Party. I always had him pegged as a libertarian in the original sense of the word (that is, an anarchist) with a bit of a pragmatic streak.
Sorry, moderator, when I glanced at it I missed it.
No problem, I've read other things by him and was on the lookout for it. Just didn't want people caught by surprise.
Here's a link to a revealing and sometimes surprising article about Wil (provided on his own web page).

Influx, go up about four posts to Blue Berry on Friday, November 22, 2002 - 04:47 pm.
4:47!!!!
Sorry, thought I checked all the previous messages.
No biggie.
Influx,
I hope you don't kick yourself as hard as I do over Mr. Wheaton's choice of adjectives and interjections.
Would this be the right time for a colorful metaphor?
I met Wil in Vegas during the 35th Anniversary Con and found him to be very friendly. He has a great sense of humor, and his comedy troupe did a stellar job on their evening performance. It reminded me of early SNL (back when it was actually funny), but with a Star Trek twist.
Wil got reamed by B&B.
Look Here and scroll down to "Sad Times". Alas, the link won't work after a few days.
More like Berman. He says it was Berman he spoke to about attending the premiere, not Braga. And it's possible that Berman forgot, or sent the invite to the wrong screening.
You know, I actually felt sorry for him for that. [Getting a little soft in your old age, Nine? - everyone] No. Of course not. It's just that I can relate that story to a similar incident I had when I was younger.
Wil Wheaton needs to re-evaluate his priorities...
While I can understand being disappointed with not being invited to the premiere (who wouldn't want to go)... the screening at Paramount was undoubtedly a screening for the cast and crew members who worked on the film. This sort of thing is normal in Hollywood. Premieres are designed to publicize the movie... so it's not surprising that someone with three seconds of screentime doesn't get invited to the premiere (which is filled with starring cast members, reporters, critics, and other assorted studio bigwigs).
However, for him to say that there was "nothing special" about the Paramount screening strikes me as extremely shallow and a slap in the face to the hundreds of people who also worked on the film, but weren't invited to the premiere.
"Shut up, Wesley!"
Apparently Wil was up for a voiceover job on the resurrected Family Guy. Apparently it didn't work out, but a fan sent him this hysterical proposed script.
His book, Dancing Barefoot, is now available on Amazon.com. I bought it but haven't read it yet, although I did read part of it on his web page. He is quite a writer. Check out his reminiscences about a particular 4th of July if you can find it.
He also has a new book coming out, Just a Geek. Might be pretty interesting.
I just read that excerpt of that Family Guy episode. LMAO!!!! I think it might've been funnier if Brian just punched him when Wil told him who he was.
Dancing Barefoot is a great book - as is the website. You should check them out and feel guilt for all those times you uttered the phrase "die, wesley die"
Wesley Crusher reviews The Next Generation episodes. It's pretty damned funny. But be warned, he does use some foul language.
"Make it so."
it Jim, I'm a boy wonder, not a film critic!

Ha! Thanks, Darth, for including that great line!
I think there should have been an entry in one of Phil's Guides, that went like this:
The following *could possibly* have been written by Phil and included in one of the TNG Guides
-----------------------------------------------
CONUNDRUM TOTE BOARD:
Number Of Times Wesley Is Told To "Shut Up":
at least three
twice, by both Picard *and* his mother, "Datalore", and once by Guinan, "The Dauphin"
And seeing as how Wesley was so annoying, I'm sure there were many other times this happened as well!
------------------------------------------------
Oh, if only.....
BTW, Wil just guested on "The Big Bang Theory" a few months ago, playing an "exaggerated evil" version of himself. It was really funny!
I think we'll be seeing him again on this show, now that Wil is Sheldon's "KHAAAANNNNNNNNNN!!!!"
Another link to Wil Wheaton's reviews of TNG episodes.
I wonder if you are all aware of the "alternate identity" Wil has created for one of his websites where he blogs (I believe he has two of them). "Sparks McGee" is the character he thinks Wesley Crusher *should* have been like, not the wimpy know-it-all who lacked basic social skills and had no friends his own age, but was such a child prodigy that he managed to do things in order to save the ship's crew when everyone else said they were impossible. I could go on, but I think you all get the point.
I said a while back that I though Wil was cool and that I wouldnt mind meeting him, but as for Wesley, well...some people are of the opinion that he should have died in some way at the end of the seventh season and not have had the Traveler come out of nowhere to rescue him from certain death on Dorvan V. I have to say I agree with this opinion. And as for his scene(s) that ended up getting cut from Nemesis, well, I think Wil should have turned that one down outright. And notice how they gave no explanation as to why Wesley was back. Once again, I could go on, but I think you all get where I'm coming from.
So, go to whatever site Wil is blogging from, and from there you can see for yourself "The Adventures Of Sparks McGee, Galactic Badass!"
I just did, and it was pretty cool!
And notice how they gave no explanation as to why Wesley was back.
Well, it's not so hard to guess. Wesley is Beverley's son, he spent years on the Enterprise being mentored by Will, most of the ship's senior staff consider him a good friend and the fact that he went off with the Traveller on his voyage of self discovery doesn't mean he couldn't keep in touch. Will's and Deanna's wedding would be a perfect occasion for him to visit.
Uh huh. Well, like I said before, I really think that Wil should have turned down the cameo in the film. Although he had no idea that his scenes would be cut, it seemed like it was more trouble than it was worth, for the script to have even involved Wesley in the movie in any way. Just my opinion on the matter.
As for the Traveler, I have stated before that I wish they would have explored that particular theme more than what we saw of him, which really wasn't that much. I wish that TPTB could have given that character some closure, as perhaps Eric Menyuk might have been available to play the part one last time. I have no idea what else he has done besides those three Trek appearances.
Anyway, it all seems pointless to speculate on that situation any further, doesn't it? At least I think so!
I always liked Wil Wheaton in this Something Positive storyline.
Warning! Contains blood & foul language.
Thanks, Rodney. It appears that Menyuk's resume on IMDB ends at 1998. Did he quit acting, or retire from it? In any case, he did other things besides TNG, but I never saw any of them myself.
In any case, if any of you get a chance to check out the Sparks McGee part of Wheaton's site, do so, it's really cool. There's also fan-art as well as the still shots from the series with added dialogue. I tell you, Wil sometimes REALLY wishes that things could have been different for him on the show. But they probably would never have been quite like THAT!
Wil Wheaton now claims his parents stole his childhood earnings; his residuals from Next Gen were all he had. More on that here.
