Anyone know what Diana Muldaur is up to now?

Just read an article on this in Star Trek: The Magazine... she's living in Massachusetts with her husband. Supposedly, she's still acting, but I haven't seen her in anything lately.

After NextGen, she played Rosalind Shays on L.A. Law for three seasons. She also appeared in the TV movie The Return of Sam McCloud in 1989, then did Perry Mason: The Case of the Fatal Fashion in 1991, appeared on the TV series Hearts Are Wild in 1992, voiced Dr. Leslie Thompkins in Batman: The Animated Series, and in 1992 appeared in the TV movie Locked Up: A Mother’s Rage, a movie about prison mothers starring Cheryl Ladd.

Oooh...she did a Perry Mason movie? I don't think she's allowed to act in anything decent after that, it's a rule. Guess it's on to local dinner theater and Metamucil commercials.

I wonder if Muldaur has ever had people come up to her and tell her that Pulaski was one of the worst Trek characters ever!

It's not her fault, though, it's how the writers and producers created her!

Pulaski was a cold, unfeeling, unemotional harpy who, like Bones McCoy, an actual loved Trek character, hated being transported. Her Star Trek CCG card said that she also disliked turbolifts. That may be because her L.A. Law character perished by falling down an elevator shaft, back in the '80's.

At the beginning of the second season, she also did not recogize Data as a sentient being. That was pretty weird. That's probably why they did "The Measure Of A Man".

But I will give Pulaski props for saving the lives of both Picard and Riker in the same season before she departed, never to be seen again!

Anyway, I wonder if Muldaur has any regrets doing Trek. Obviously her two TOS characters were all right, but Trek fans seem to really dislike Pulaski. So do I, but not was much as Wesley, Alexander (when he was young), and Lwaxana (especially her three DS9 appearances)!

Gene seemed to realise the error of his ways and brought back Beverly Crusher. But even she could be really annoying, especially in the first season!

(Pulaski was referenced once after she was gone. In "Who Watches The Watchers", her technique of memory wiping was mentioned, which she had used on Sarjenka in "Pen Pals". Just thought I would add this.)

One catch, though - Muldaur played Roslyn Shays on L.A. Law after her one season Next Gen stint. Specifically, from 1989-91. The episode where her character "dropped out" was first aired on 3/21/91.

But the card in question was probably created afterward, making this a ret-con character trait in-joke. :-)

I thought Gates McFadden left the show because she felt that her character was being underutilized--the same reason why Denise Crosby left--and then decided to return after a year.

Well, yeah, I guess that's what happened. Kind of like Stacey Haiduk leaving seaQuest DSV for the same reason. The show sure wasn't the same after that.

But like Phil said: "Great rejoicing follwed the departure of Pulaski." Hear hear!
