Whoopi Goldberg

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: NextGen: Cast & Characters: The Cast: Whoopi Goldberg

Why is it that almost every article on Whoopi Goldberg I read in today's media doesn't even mention her role in TNG? (I don't think she was even credited for her role in "Generations")

By Adam Bomb on Thursday, May 16, 2002 - 11:18 am:

Reportedly, she declined credit for "Generations", for unknown reasons. She is leaving "Hollywood Squares" at the end of this season.

She sucks at being a host - I hated her Oscars appearances. She tells a lame joke and you hear laughter, but when the camera pans the crowd nobody is laughing. Maybe she should just stick to Entemans donut commercials.

By Darth Sarcasm on Wednesday, July 10, 2002 - 10:41 am:

I met her once when she was shopping in my store. Yes, she holds a lot of power in the industry... but she has never forgotten where she came from. Having encountered and dealt with a number of celebrities I can honestly say that she is the classiest of them all.

Oh! And despite your suggestion, there is no canned laughter at the Oscars... it's televised and recorded live. So someone was laughing.

I went to a taping of Hollywood Squares once when she was still center square. When the cameras WEREN'T rolling, she acted like the typical over-indulged celebrity, whining over this and that. Coming from Hollywood, can't say it surprised me.

By Darth Sarcasm on Tuesday, January 14, 2003 - 4:08 pm:

I've been to Hollywood Squares, too (though not when Whoopi was on), and I could hardly hear anything the celebs were saying when they weren't actually filming, much less if they were whining. Is it possible that you mistook her giving instructions (as producer of the show) for "whining"?

By BJ Clinton on Wednesday, January 15, 2003 - 5:38 am:

She wasn't in producer mode at the time. She took over for the audience comedian, who wasn't doing that great a job anyway. When it came time to pass out the t-shirts and the candy bars, most of them went to the folks in the front row - whom Whoopi had already introduced to us as her friends. Can't say that those of us who had actually stood in line appreciated that much.

By Darth Sarcasm on Wednesday, January 15, 2003 - 9:58 am:

Anyway, that doesn't sound like "whining," either... at least not on Whoopi's part. You didn't pay to see the show, did you? So, why the sense of entitlement?

By Adam Bomb on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 - 12:21 pm:

Whackjob Whoopi, on her first day on The View panel, defended Michael Vick's dogfighting. More here.

By Butch the Moderator on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 - 3:39 pm:

Fair warning. This thread is about Whoopi, not about Vick's dogfighting. Any discussion of the dogfighting issue not directly related to Whoopi's comments doesn't belong here. I don't have a problem with Adam's post, I just don't want things going off track.
Thank you.

Her "Book" from 1993, had no mention of her Trek gig. I wonder why?

And how come she always has her glasses down on her nose, and not striaght up in front of her eyes?

There was no other person who could have done the role of Guinan better than Goldberg, that's for sure!

not heard the podcast with her and Tennant but my understanding is she talked with him about her pitching to play the Doctor in a US series, so maybe when the McGann movie was casting, or when the Spielberg / "rapping TARDIS" version was knocking around.
