Just how long does it take for one ruler of the High Council to replace another? Shouldn't Gowron have been sworn in before this or was there additional paperwork to fill out? (Of course, then he has to wait for his new personalized stationary to come back. Business cards with his new job title. Give two weeks notice before leaving his previous occupation. Sell his old house and most importantly, fill out those change of address cards for the Post Office so they know where to deliver his mail. "Through rain, through sleet, through Romulan attacks...)

On page 272 of the NextGen Guide, Phil wondered about the statement that women cannot serve on the High Council, although Gowron offered K'Ehleyr a seat on the High Council. Well, maybe a seat on the High Council means something different than serving on the High Council? (I wouldn't mind K'Ehleyr having a `seat' on my `High Council.')

Since women were on the High Council in Sins of the Father, what happened to them? Was booting them off one of the things that had to be changed before Gowron took over?

NANJAO: It appears that Lursa & B'Etor got tired of these outfits and wore something with more cleavage exposed in "Generations"

(looks at Lursa) So would you. You know?

Ah, you refer to the Klingon W'N'dbrAgh range of battle armour! :O

Could someone please explain the birth of Sela?

We know that the non-alt-Tasha Yar died by the hands of Armus in "Skin of Evil". We also know it was the alt-Tasha Yar that went back in time to help the Enterprise-C in "Yesterday's Enterprise". Therefore, the question is: How can a child from an alt-universe cross over into a non-alt-universe?

By LUIGI NOVI on Sunday, September 08, 2002 - 11:42 pm:

The current timeline, the one created at the very end of Yesterday's Enterprise, is a hybrid timeline. It is neither the one that existed before the Enterprise-C came through, nor the one that was created after, but a restored timeline that contained aspects of both.

Because the Enterprise disappeared through the rift, the timeline diverged at a point nineteen years prior to that episode, and Yar never died at Vagra II. But rather than restore the timeline to its exact nature prior to the Enterprise coming through the rift, they cheated: Yar went through the rift with them, and thus, she essentially duplicated herself. She was born Turkana IV, grew up, became security chief on the Enterprise-D, and died at Vagra II. While this was happening, a duplicate version created in that altered timeline, the only remnant of that timeline once it was reversed, married a Romulan, bore Sela, and was eventually killed for trying to escape with her.

So much for credibility in STTNG.

This episode marks the first time we see Lursa & B'Etor.

I think the typical process of installing a new Chancellor is pretty quick. The Arbiter declares 2 or more people the leading contenders, they fight it out and the last one standing gets the big jacket. The ceremonies he had Duras and Gowron go through were traditional, but atypical. Both men found it irksome to waste time on them, but it was Picard's call.
As for women standing among the Council when they meet, but women supposedly not being able to be members, I can think of a couple explanations. Perhaps these women were assistants to the members. They never establish how many members the Council has. They could be the wives of serving members who stand in for their husbands, who are sick or unable to attend. Maybe members of the Council are required to spend time commanding the fleet, a couple members go out each few months to the field, and their wives hold their places in their absence. There is no evidence of this, but these theories do reconcile the visual record and dialog.
As for, would I, sure. I do believe the picture shown in that ad was of Lursa, the taller and more striking of the pair. If I were Worf, captured by those two, I'd ask about marrying Lursa instead of B'etor, who looks like Gowron in drag.

Clifton Jones (Craig) was David Kano on "Space: 1999."

Man, these macho Attack Cruisers look pretty pitiful in this episode, don't they? I mean, the Bortas gets its butt kicked by a couple of BoPs! (which, BTW, should be able to move much more quickly than they are) Was the ambush really that good and no-one said anything?

This was the 100 episode of Star Trek The Next Generation.

Unless you count that little uniform error at the end of the episode.

Well, if we're supposed to believe that two of them could ambush and take over the Enterprise...

Normally I do this on the Friends boards, but I have been known to include my favorite lines from Trek eps on the boards as well. I happen to like this exchange:

K'TAL: The arbiter confirms that you have completed the rite of succession. Your enemies have been destroyed. You stand alone. Do you wish to claim leadership of the Council?
GOWRON: I wish it.
K'TAL: Are there no other challengers?
TORAL: There is one! (enters chamber) I will challenge him.
GOWRON: An arrogant child!
K'TAL: Who are you?
TORAL: I am Toral... son of Duras.
GOWRON: Duras had no son!
LURSA: (entering chamber) But he did, Gowron!
GOWRON: So, this is your doing...
LURSA: We wish to address the Council.
K'TAL: Lursa, B'Etor, come forward.
LURSA: Members of the High Council, it is a day of great rejoicing for the family of Duras and the Klingon Empire. We have discovered that our brother did indeed have a son and heir.
GOWRON: This is an outrage! Duras had no mate. Where did you find him, Lursa? In a harlot's bedchamber?
TORAL: I will personally cut out your tongue, Yintagh! (Klingon expletive)
GOWRON: Impudent wretch!

According to the script, this version of Toral was between 16-18 years old. However, the character would return years later on DS9 in "The Sword Of Kahless", obviously portrayed by a different actor, and Toral had definetly aged physically and mentally in the time that passed. It was not known whether he survived the events of the episode, however.

Regarding the Klingon Attack Cruisers, the one used in TNG-early DS9 were Vor'cha class, and then in "The Way Of The Warrior" the larger, more powerful Negh'var class Attack Cruisers would debut. They even had them in the mirror universe.

And the BOP's were numerous, originally they were B'rel class (used in the 23rd century) and then in the 24th century the K'vort class debuted, they were larger, differently colored, and could not land on a planet's surface like the B'rel class could.

And the first Klingon ships we saw were the D7 class Battle Cruisers (throughout TOS), and then in TMP the larger and more powerful K'tinga class Battle Cruisers debuted.

Just FYI!
