How much time has passed from the Vico being smashed and the Enterprise finding her? Presumably, Timothy has been trapped under that beam since it happened, but I don't recall hearing Dr. Crusher saying that Timothy had suffered from dehydration.

Data tells La Forge and Riker to beam back to the Enterprise, because lifting the beam may start the collapse of the ship. Later, in Picard's Stardate, Picard says that they have done a thorough search of the ship for survivors. Shouldn't this thorough search have been done before Data lifted the beam and risked the integrity ot the ship? Have Crusher beam over, she can examine Timothy and make sure he is stable while the search teams examine the rest of the ship.

Data tells Timothy that his service record does not warrant his being Captain, but in Redemption II he thought that he deserved to captain one of the ships in the blockade, he is third in command of the Enterprise and he has been in Starfleet for more than 20 years. So what exactly is wrong with his record? The fact that he is an android?

So why didn't Data just tell Picard why the shields should be dropped instead of just trying to stare him down?

Don't you think that the last wave should have rocked the Enterprise just a little bit more than it did, considering that Picard dropped the shields at the last moment?

Wouldn't sending probes into an unexplored nebula be a smarter thing to do than just take a ship in?

On pages 309 & 310 of the NextGen Guide, Phil wondered about Data's statement. "My positronic brain is not capable of generating those conditions." and then listed several situations involving positronic brains. Perhaps Data meant that his brain as it was, without modification, could not produce emotions?

On the next page Phil critiques the top of Data's building. Hey, Data was in a rush. ;-)

GREAT LINE: "I am an android" Timothy to Troi. Actually, the whole sequence was great.

HMMM. It appears the kids in the school had just finshed learning about Kirk's adventure to the center of the galaxy in STV...they're singing, "Row, row, row your boat" near the end of the episode.

NANJAO: I'm glad TPTB gave Patrick Stewart another chance to direct. This time the story is better. "In Theory" was kinda drab.

Another ep I saw today on DVD that I hadn't seen since it first aired (unless I missed it then) and I still don't remember it. I liked how despite the extensive damage the Vico took its computer could still generate life support and gravity just fine.

This is the episode they were filming when Gene Roddenberry died.

Joshua Harris (Timothy) was best known as Chris Ewing on "Dallas."

I'm assuming that the gravitational fields encasing the damaged Vico was what threatened to bring down girders and equipment, because if the ship is floating in space, it wouldn't have Earth's gravity or under water pressure to bear down on the weak points.
It's difficult to make out the schematics on the screen, but when the Vico is displayed as Picard is told where Timothy and his parents were when the ship was damaged, it looks like rooms are indicated where the angular struts connecting the upper and lower hulls are, as if the middle section is as wide as the upper and lower sections. Not only are they only wide enough for turbolift tubes and gangways, but such 'rooms' would be about five feet wide (taking into consideration wiring, piping, and hull plating, but they'd also be at a 90 degree angle. Maybe the graphics artist only had a side photo of the Oberth-class for reference.

This episode was directed by the actor that played Captain Jean Luc Picard.

after exhaustive searching, I've found the aliens that attacked the Vico.

A pic of them can be found here:
