I've been all over Nitcentral and can't find the Nitpicking the Nitpicker's Guides board. Was that lost in the NextGen crash?
AH?My board was lost.I made that board with my own two hands........
Restart the board.
May the Board be with you.
The Board is out there
Dear Moderator, could you maybe reinstall the subboards for the characters/actors?
Are there boards where we can comment on each NextGen character?
Less of this talk about balds, if you don't mind...
Oh, you mean BOARDS! I'm do apologise- it's my secretary reading things out to me. I'm alittle hard of hearing, you see...
Congratulations, Butch.
And thanks for moving The Emissary to the second season folder.
I'll let you catch your breath before I start making new suggestions.
You're doing great so far, Butch! Keep up the good work.
Thanks everyone!
Wooo! Congrats, Butch!
Well, Electron and Samantha, you'll be pleased to know I started new boards for the cast and characters. Only took nearly 3 years.
Also, thanks JD!
Ditto.
The Nemesis board is missing the add a message button
No, it's in Pt. 2 of the discussion. The link is at the top of Pt. 1.
Suggestion:
PLEASE, for the love of GOD, organize the sink!
How do you mean, CC? I recently put the topics in roughly alphabetical order. How do you think I should have them organized?
Maybe you should add a folder for the humorous boards?
Maybe these boards could be moved to the Cast & Characters section?
Alan Ruck (Capt. Harriman) No Hard Feelings, buddy.
Katherine Pulaski--The second most hated TNG character?
Kirk more three dimensional than Picard?
Spot the extras...
The TNG Cast:Who's the Best Actor?
Wesley Crusher: why is he hated so?
Also I think there are at least 2 boards related to The Borg. Maybe you could create a section for Races (like Nick did in ClassicTrek) to discuss races that originated in NextGen?
Just some ideas.
Thanks Kam, that's the kind of ideas I'm looking for.
I'll wait a couple of more days before I begin changing things in case anybody else has some more suggestions.
Alright, I've re-arranged the Sink. If anyone can think of any other sub-sections that would be useful, leave me a message here.
Okay, Butch, here's the deal- the two sources I'm using to scrape together these synopses are The Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion by Larry Nemecek and http:\www.startrek.com The former uses a "production" order, so that, for example, "Skin of Evil" comes before "Symbiosis." The latter uses the air date order, so "Skin of Evil" comes after "Symbiosis."
The web site, therefore, lists in this order:
Encounter at Farpoint
The Naked Now
Code of Honor
The Last Outpost
Where No One Has Gone Before
Lonely Among Us
Justice
The Battle
Hide and Q
Haven
The Big Goodbye
Datalore
Angel One
11001001
Too Short a Season
When the Bough Breaks
Home Soil
Coming of Age
Heart of Glory
The Arsenal of Freedom
Symbiosis
Skin of Evil
We'll Always Have Paris
Conspiracy
The Neutral Zone
Meanwhile the book has:
Encounter at Farpoint
The Naked Now
Code of Honor
Haven
Where No One Has Gone Before
The Last Outpost
Lonely Among Us
Justice
The Battle
Hide and Q
Too Short a Season
The Big Goodbye
Datalore
Angel One
11001001
Homesoil
When the Bough Breaks
Coming of Age
Heart of Glory
The Arsenal of Freedom
Skin of Evil
Symbiosis
We'll Always Have Paris
Conspiracy
The Neutral Zone
Apparently Phil used the second version, and I guess that's fine, but it makes more sense to me to use the actual air order.
Also, Butch, when Sparrow puts the synopses in, could you (at some point) move them to the top of the board?
ScottN, I've already been doing that.
Sparrow, I prefer air order as well. My copy of the 'Companion' has the aired order at the back, so I'll put them in that order eventually. It may take a while since my 'real life' is a little hectic at the moment.
Also Sparrow, I've noticed the punctuation problem in some of them. I'll fix that soon.
Yeah, there'll be those problems. I know speficially I fubared an italics tag on the "Farpoint" synopsis. I'm writing these up in Word beforehand so there should be less spelling/grammar mistakes now. Should be. And you can take your time sorting these out- after tomorrow you won't be getting any new synopses until next week, as I'll be in the progress of schlepping myself up to college. So you can take a breather.
Just remember grades come first!
Sorry, I have no children and every once in a while I have to go into parent mode for some reason.
Apparently Phil used the second version, and I guess that's fine, but it makes more sense to me to use the actual air order.
Phil does *not* use the second version. Phil always lists episodes in air date order to avoid problems like those that you mentioned. (Not to mention ones from later in the show, like how "Unification, Part II" was actually produced before "Unification, Part I.")
Yay! The first season synopses are done!
Sorry it's been taking so long, but the college life is a busy one... now, where are my pants? Hmmmmmmm...
Just wanted to publicly thank Butch (or a roving moderator) for deleting a recent series of attacks against a particular poster (as well as my responses to those attacks) on the TNG boards.
Whatever.
Uh huh. Just because you don't happen to like a particular poster's method of posting doesn't give you license to smear them.
Coming Soon: Season 3 synopses! Really!
Alright everyone let's just let this drop.
Some suggestions to EVERYONE;
If you don't like another person's posts, ignore them.
If you find a mistake in someone else's post, point it out without being rude, sarcastic or condescending.
Just as a reminder, here's Phil's Second Rule of Nitpicking: All nitpickers shall perform their duties with light-heartedness and good cheer.
I think we have gotten away from that recently and we need to keep it in mind when we're here at Nitcentral.
Okay?
O'TAY!!!
I'm sorry. I had a fight with my best friend and was in a bad mood for awhile. Sorry for taking that out on John and everyone else.
Butch, there are synopses for "The Price" and "The Enemy" that you never moved up to the tops of those pages. Just FYI.
Thanks Sparrow, I"ll get 'em moved.
Moved 'em and did "The Vengeance Factor" as well. Sorry for the delay.
Butch, this board is up to 37K
S'okay, Butch. Sorry I haven't been all that consistent in getting them done!
This goes for any board.
Maybe for the utilities section (if its not already there and i am an idiot) but how about a spell check program of some sort?
Maybe for the entire brash reflections web page.
I don't know who really handles those things of that sophistication, but it would save me having to open MS Word for a blank document and use the speel checker.
Maybe someone could tell Phil.
". . . speel checker."
(Chuckling) thanks, 2.
A spell checker falls within Phil the Chief's area of responsibility. I think we had one at one time but, there were problems with it. Or am I confused again?
Note for those using the "Last Day" search for messages.
Please read the notice on the first page of the sink.
Not sure where this goes, but what happened to the "Things we'll always remember about ST-TNG?"
The old board hadn't had a post in a long time, so it was removed when I had to do some trimming a while back. If you're wanting to post a new comment, leave a message here and I'll start a part 2.
What episode of TNG had Picard refer to a woman as being handsome?
"Tapestry"
This is only a test.
As is this.
Not to mention this
Booga booga.
How about I poke the moderator with a "snick?"
Is the "Snick" pointed?
I know how to protect myself from a person attacking me with a banana, but not a pointed "Snick"
(Ref. Monty Python)
no, the "Snick" is dull. It'll hurt more.
(Ref. Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves)
I've always considered myself a little sharp, although maybe I've become blunt.
Moderator? There is a board in the Voyager Sink on the old server right here, which is clearly more appropriate for the NextGen Sink, if you'd like to cut and paste it. (The old server boards are not visible in the new server's Page Manager in the Admin area.)
I created a new topic in the NextGen Sink with the same name and moved the messages over. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, Luigi.
No more Spammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
so far!
I think a certain banned poster is back.
Noted OCH. Thank you.
John Lang, I've been trying to reply to your e-mail, but I'm getting a delivery failure error message. Sorry I wasn't able to reply in a timely manner.
OK, seems to have worked that time. Thanks, John.
Re Sparrow47 post on Tuesday, August 27, 2002 about ep order - Has anyone else checked out the Star Trek Chronology Project?
Also heads up, Trek Culture will have a retro Ups and Downs for the Best of Both Worlds at the end of next week.
I very much doubt anyone is worried about a 21 year old post.
RWF as this habit of replying to ancient old posts, most of which were made by people who are long gone.
Surely he doesn't expect a reply from a poster who last posted when Dubya was still in his first Presidential term.
Furthermore, RWF clicks on 10-15 year old links and seems surprised that the websites said links led to are no longer in existence. Yes, this site is frozen in time, but the rest of the Internet is not (this site still as links to GeoCities, which went under in 2009).
