So, is Dukat dead?

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: DS9: DS9 Kitchen Sink: *** Old Sinks ***: So, is Dukat dead?

I've been thinking about this off and on for a while.

In the same way that Sisko became a wormhole alien at the end (of course, it appears he may have always been so, just unaware of it), is it possible that Dukat is not dead and became a Pah Wraith?

It doesn't matter--I don't think any of the movies will be bringing back Sisko or Dukat--it just seems to be an interesting possibility.

Also, there's no way for anyone to know what happened to Sisko, Dukat, and Winn since they were the only people in the caverns. That puts the Cardies in a strange position, not knowing whether Dukat is dead or alive; I would guess the Bajorans had already figured out that Kai Winn was a bad guy.

I'm just glad Dukat got his old face back before the end. >o: )

I could go either way, but I think that Dukat is just penned up in the Fire Caves with the other Pah-Wraiths and could come back to haunt us in the future. I don't know if they left that intentionally ambiguous or not but there was not a whole lot to suggest that he was gone for good. Him burning up didn't mean much since that was the Pah-Wraiths doing anyway.

A side note- wasn't Dukat already a Pah-Wraith? He put that one inside of him before he killed Jadzia. Or did it leave him?

I don't see any reason why Dukat would become a pah wraith. The pah-wraiths were Prophets at one time. Sisko was born part-Prophet, as he was conceived by a Prophet inhabiting a human host. Dukat never was, and I don't see how having one inside him is the same thing.

Really? What happened to the prophets to make them pah-wraiths?

By Rene on Friday, May 25, 2001 - 6:27 pm:

It hasn't been mentioned. They were cast out of the Celestial Temple for some reason. Dukat claimed it was because the Pah-Wraiths wanted to take a more active role during the occupation, but since Kira said that contradicted the ancient texts, then it's not true.

By LUIGI NOVI on Friday, May 25, 2001 - 8:13 pm:

They were deemed "false prophets" and cast out of the Celestial Temple, according to Rom in the beginning of Act 5 of The Assignment(DS9). And Dukat later told Kira (I believe in Covenant(DS9)) that the reason they were cast out was because they wanted to interfere in the affairs of Bajor, and the Prophets refused to allow it.

By Rene on Friday, May 25, 2001 - 8:16 pm:

True, but Kira didn't believe it...Since she says something like "So I guess the ancient texts got it wrong".

By LUIGI NOVI on Friday, May 25, 2001 - 9:29 pm:

Darn--I forgot to include "Given Dukat's trustworthyness, his statements should be taken with a grain of salt." I forgot to inlcude it. I HATE it when that happens!

Dukat-the-man was killed by Kai Winn via the poison she put into that cup of wine that she had him drink from. He then died on the ledge, her "offering" to the Pah-Wraiths.
The P.W.'s then took over his body and reanimated it for his battle with Sisco, after which, according to Sarah, he was imprisoned forever with them in the Fire Caves.

I always thought that Dukat would make a good "Khan-like" bad guy. The Powers-That-Be say that is what they want for Star Trek 10.

Dukat can't be dead. The Pah-Wraiths have to train him for what's coming...

Let's all remember that the Reckoning wasn't carried out in full. What this has to do with Dukat OR Sisko... I don't really know.
