You DO have to impress me with your (Scrambled) Technobabble!

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: DS9: DS9 Kitchen Sink: You DO have to impress me with your (Scrambled) Technobabble!
By Sven of Nine on Saturday, September 08, 2001 - 3:36 pm:

Based upon the Scrambled Episode Titles and Scrambled Character Names topics on the Classic Trek sink, as created by fellow Nitcentral denizen Will.

The later Trek series are heavy on technobabble, so here is the perfect place to put this topic, where your technological and incomprehensible wonders are to be displayed for all to be confused. Those of you aware of the Technobabble Generator in one of the Nitpicker Guides will feel right at home here. Use old streams from the episodes, or - in the true spirit of the Scrambled etc. topics - make up your own.

And besides, after a few stressful nights, I feel like having some fun!

Here are some technobabble streams to start off with:

The Annular Degenerative Plasmadyne Coil
Transquantum particle deceleration slave relay
Microphasic subpace semitransducer
Dynamic apogee chronometric field analysis
Reverse flux destabilisation interspace portal
Microstellar interphasic ultraphotoimaging profile
Antigraviton pulse ramscoop emitter
and...
the quasi-parallel warp plasma retrograde feedback circulation

There. I feel better already. Your turn now!

Subatomic thetaband quantuminhibitor
Static frequency alternator
Semi-permeable viralresistant biological gelpack
Anti-tachyon pulse generator plasma-injector
Primary replicator safety feedback-loop

Hey, I also fell better now, so I'll save the rest for another rainy day. :)

Very impressive stuff..however, it'd be more impressive if you'd explain what all of this stuff DOES! :)

Here's one...

Hyper-Trans-Dynamic Containment String Bikini

(No explanation needed here. However, imagining Troi in one of those has forced me to log off and take a cold shower) :)

Well let's try:

Subatomic thetaband quantuminhibitor - Device made of quarks and freeflying protons that halts the release off zero-point-energy in the thetaband area

Static frequency alternator - Device used to confuse the Borg. In normal combat situations the frequency of the phaser beams alternates, but once in a while the SFA kicks in and fires several bursts at the same frequency just to confuse the Borg who would already have changed their shield nutation.

Semi-permeable viralresistant biological gelpack - Improved version of Voyagers gelback that can't catch a disease from cheese

Anti-tachyon pulse generator plasma-injector - Device that delivers energy to the generator who creates negative-speed particles

Primary replicator safety feedback-loop - Computer circuit that allows the replicator to learn if a replicated item proved harmful/lethal.

My brain just entered Nirvana (or is it Nerdvana) :) UHMMMMMM, inner peace.

OK.... here's what my things do:

Annular Degenerative Plasmadyne Coil - gives the Defiant that extra kick when flying at warp, but burns out easily.

Transquantum particle deceleration slave relay - a thing used in time machines to slow down. Useful if you're travelling through time and need to stop quickly.

Microphasic subspace semitransducer - creates small pockets of subspace tunnels for packages to be transported through. Eat your heart out FedEx!

Dynamic apogee chronometric field analysis - tells you the time. No really, it does. Actually, it's a new timepiece that accurately translates the StarDate into local time, be it Earth, Bajor, Qo'noS, etc.

Reverse flux destabilisation interspace portal - something I've been saving for a rainy day: it's a small energised ring through which items can be screened before being sent via microphasic subspace semitransducer. Useful for spotting changelings.

Microstellar interphasic ultraphotoimaging profile - takes crystal clear images of small bacteria at a range of twelve parsecs.

Antigraviton pulse ramscoop emitter - possibly the most useful thing here, it collects antigravitons and uses them to force beached or crashed starships off the ground and back into space again. Brilliant!

Quasi-parallel warp plasma retrograde feedback circulation - cools the warp core if it's running a little hot, and heats it up if you're starting it from cold.

Eat your heart out, NASA. We've got the best "scientists" here at Nitcentral.

Here's a more "serious" entry...
Transwarp shield bubble--Simular to "warp bubble" but for transwarp drive vessels.

Here's one:

Multiphasic pulsing photon beam - essentially some sort of flashing light! :)

btw, I love the two DS9 gadgets...

Self-sealing stembolts, which, as we know, play some part in the manufacturing of reverse ratcheting router-planers.
