Darn, I didn't realize how much I missed this show until now!

By John A. Lang on Friday, April 09, 2004 - 10:16 am:

I take it you don't have the DVDs.

By ScottN on Friday, April 09, 2004 - 11:15 am:

You take it correctly. Now if they'd only show it during the evenings as well!

I’ve recently started rewatching my videos of the series for the first time in many years and agree with Scott – having so far seen to the end of season 2, this series was darned good!

I completely agree. I'm going to have to start saving u for those sets.

u=up

Strange – I always thought it was Voyager that started the constant and repetitive use of “somesorta” but Deep Space 9 was just as bad! I wonder if The Next Gen used it more than we originally realised too?

I've seen somekinda used in TNG several times. At the moment I can remember counting it at least three times in one of the early Borg eps (I think Best of Both Worlds)

I've heard it all my life, which extends back to well before there was a Star Trek. It's used to categorize something broadly when not enough is known yet to define it precisely--a likely situation in the "final frontier." So how is it a nit? Or am I just missing out on a chug-a-lug game?

"VENEER!"

And yes: DS9 is the best of the bunch. Bloody well about time, Spike.

By Mike Nuss on Saturday, March 05, 2005 - 9:14 pm:

It's not necessarily a nit; it's just (usually) an unnecessary word. Examples: "somekinda forcefield," "somekinda tractor beam." A forcefield is a forcefield. A tractor beam is a tractor beam. Obviously it's some kind of one of those devices; if it weren't, it wouldn't exist.

Anyone know if DS9 is coming back? First, Spike seperated it from the TNG and VGR and put it at 10 AM. Now, its on at 3 AM, that is, when it's not preempted by a movie!
