I'd have to say the Defiant, it's more heavily armed, it has the Cloaking Device, and Ablative Armor

The Defiant was a warship and the Voyager was primarily for science/exploration.

Wouldn't the Defiant be better equipped to navigate the badlands than the larger USS Voyager ?

The Defiant would easily win against the Voyager who left for the Delta Quadrant. I'm not so sure how it would fare against the Voyager who returned from it.
