I am not really sure where this post really belongs, (DS9 forum or BSG0 so here goes....

As an avowed niner I can't help but feel that this series has really taken the "good" parts of DS9 and amplified them by 10. In fact when I hear of the high praise that BSG is getting, I really feel proud knowing that the writers and producers of this show, got their start on DS9.

I also love the fact that this series has in a sense vindicated DS9 in that many of the things that people complained about DS9, its too dark, the characters are too flawed etc, they have come to embrace in a different format. The writers have really shown what they can do, now that they can not only tweak Roddenberry's universe but totally break it. Ron Moore, who I believe was a writer for DS9, has taken many of the same elements of DS9 and amplified them with BSG, something that I really love.

For instance, Ron Moore and Ira Steven Behr were all about creating flawed characters and having the conflicts on the show come within the crew, instead of constantly from an outside source, i.e forehead aliens. We see this in BSG every episode, with the constant character conflicts, and the absence of any forehead aliens. this adds for more character development and keeps us from having cookie cutter characters like riker, Ensign Kim, Hoshi etc.

do you feel that BSG has in a sense vindicated DS9?

just my .02.

I don't think that DS9 needed vindication. However, I feel that it does vindicate Moore's remarks about Voyager.

Yes, it does.

Yes. I'm glad to see it's doing a lot better than any of Double B's projects.

I don't think that DS9 needed to be vindicated. I already thought that it was the best Trek series.

I'll second that.
