Does anyone else think that Bashir and Ezri have fewer sparks between them than almost any other Trek couple? Dax and Worf sizzled, Riker and Deanna had the infamous bath scene, Odo vaporized with Kira, Miles and Keiko have this gentle rapport, and Zek and Ishka are cute together. But Bashir and Ezri? They say they love each other passionately, but that's just the writers talking. They act more like friends, there's no underlying sexual tension like there was between Odo and Kira in "Crossfire" and through the first part of "His Way".
Are the actors just not good at this, or is the whole Dax-Bashir romance a poorly constructed gimmick thrown in to spice up the last few episodes?

The latter, I think. The writers needed a way to create conflict between Worf and Ezri after the ill-considered liason so rudely interrupted by the Breen. Then again, how else would we make Worf turn Breen with envy? <g>
I agree -- I've seen Sid burn up the screen *more* than once, and he usually makes me drool helplessly when his characters really click with someone.
Can't comment on her. But from him, I assume it's just the nasty writing.

I think that Bashir is really in love with Jadzia not Ezri and when he thinks of going out with Ezri he's really thinking about getting a second chance to go out with Jadzia.
Ezri should leave the station because no one there seems to be seeing Ezri as Ezri (except possibly Worf, but then they're only friends because of Jadzia).
BTW, TPTB have done much worse than Bashir/Ezri. On VOY you've got Paris/Torres (Brannon, please break these people up!), Kes/Neelix, and the absolute worst: Seven and that officer from "Someone to Watch Over Me"!
Yes, I agree that Bashir and Ezri falling in love with each other seems rather gimicry and poorly-written. In my opinion, it does seem like Bashir is trying to get a second chance with Jadzia(and that Ezri is maybe receiving memories of what Jadzia might have felt deep down before she got married to Worf). Bashir/Ezri appear as if they're going through the motions of passionate
love.
Don't you understand? Bashir and Ezri's love was told to us, hardly ever shown to us. It's almost like the creators wanted to show some new love relationship since Odo and Kira and Sisko and Kassidy would be separated from each other. But they should've come up with this sooner to pull this off.
Personally, I'm pessimistic over Bashir's growth. He ended up maintaining innocence in the dark world of DS9. I mean every character had a dark aspect. Bashir's seemd to mainly be his secret of his genetic enhancement, which is a great crime in the Federation, but was really resolved too easily. We never saw anyone frowning at Bashir once he was exposed, etc. I was expecting Bashir to end up joining Section 31 or exposing Section 31, but at a very dark price as well. I was expecting Section 31 to impact him in a way that he would leave the Federation.
Giving Bashir a love interest just didn't do much, except to finally return in a way his love for the previous Dax.
As Dr. Evil would say, "They threw him a frickin' bone", that's all.
He wanted Jadzia and got Ezri, now that's what I call SLOPPY SECONDS!
Sure was forced and uninspired.
It's not the fact that he got Ezri, instead of Jadzia that bothers me. In fact, I think he is better off with Ezri. I really don't think Jadzia could ever return real true love toward Julian. I see him have more in common with Ezri, then he does with Jadzia. (Problems with parents, insecurities, etc) what gets me, is I like to see the relationship develop! Have it turn into marriage, and see how they deal with their enviornment like Worf and Jadzia did.
I never saw anything in them. It was too forced and rushed.
And I agree with another comment here that says that Ezri should leave the station to find herself, that would make much more sense.
