Is Kira Star Trek's best leading lady or what?!?!?!?

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: DS9: DS9 Kitchen Sink: *** Old Sinks ***: Is Kira Star Trek's best leading lady or what?!?!?!?
By Twista on Friday, July 09, 1999 - 5:10 pm:

THe best female character in the Star Trek universe is hard to choose-but I go with Kira. She is beautiful, intelligent, take-charge, passionate, religous and extremely loyal. In fact I think she is one of Trek's best characters period!Where is Nana Visitor's award??? So tell me Guys n Gals-who is your favorite Trek female????

Are you going to go through every DS9 character and start a "Is XXXX the best XXXXX in Star Trek or what???" thread?

By ScottN on Saturday, July 10, 1999 - 12:38 am:

Jadzia Dax. Brains and beauty in the same package!

By BrianB on Saturday, July 10, 1999 - 1:22 pm:

I agree Kira's the best leading lady of DS9 for all the right reasons. Other reasons include she survived the entire series. She had little competition. Jadzia started leading about the time she became a Lt. Cmdr. TNG women didn't lead. Sure they got their own episode from time to time. And V'ger has just Janeway. Torres gets special episodes too, but leadership never gets exploited. 7 of 9 has that command presence (unveiled sex appeal), but she doesn't run the ship full time.
So yes, Col. Kira wins best leading lady hands down.

P.S. But if your asking who the best female character is, gotta be the typical male and vote Seven. Actually Seven and Kira TIE. I met and mingled with Nana Visitor earlier this year and that heightened my infatuation to record highs.
I've met a lot of the ladies at cons.
Marina, while nice, charming and beautiful, doesn't do it for me. Chase Masterson, loved her character early on, but in person? Sometimes what you see is what you get. Now that I'm way off topic. Maybe I should create the new sink topic: Who have you met at a convention and what made it memorable for you.
Finally, other guest-starring ladies come and go and don't leave a lasting impression on me.

Jadzia. Could make even Avery Brooks look like he was acting (e.g. "For the Uniform"), had a certain zest for life that I haven't seen in Kira, and could do more interesting things with dumb lines than Visitor (so far as I've seen). Besides the looks/allure, of course.

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Saturday, July 10, 1999 - 2:45 pm:

Definietly Jadzia. She is and will always be the best. (Unless they go back and do a TOS Special Edition where Uhura actually gets some lines.)

By ScottN on Saturday, July 10, 1999 - 10:03 pm:

Hey Mpatterson, maybe we should get a life and get over it [grin].

I would say that Kira is the best female character on DS9. I think Janeway is the best one
overall in all incarnations of Trek.

By Alfonso Turnage on Sunday, July 11, 1999 - 9:35 pm:

I would have said Jadzia Dax if I looked solely at her pre-5th season characterization, but
with few exceptions, once the 5th season hit(especially after she married Worf) her character just took a nosedive in quality.

Mmmm... Kira, Jadzia AND Janeway....

Kira was a great character.
In DS9's 3rd season, she seemed to have quite a few love interests.
I find this interesting because I thought Bashir was the romantic of DS9's ensemble.

By Anonymous on Friday, September 28, 2001 - 7:24 pm:

What.
Kira was outshined on her own show by Dax (either of them). If you want babeage they beat her. If you want acting quality, they beat her.

Comparing her to Dax may not be fair. Jadzia beats 'em all. Ezri comes in third or fourth. (sorry TOS fans other than babeage women were not treated the same in the '60s and they can't keep up.)

I'm posting as anonymous so some females don't think I am just a pig. (They should know that by now.:))
