DS9, what an 8th season would be like. (sigh).....

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: DS9: DS9 Kitchen Sink: *** Old Sinks ***: DS9, what an 8th season would be like. (sigh).....
By B.F. on Monday, September 20, 1999 - 4:17 pm:

Speculation, wishes... anything. Just want to know what everyone thinks could have or should have been dealt with in a possible 8th season. A post-war Alpha Quadrant would certainly be nice...
:( :( I miss my DS9!

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Monday, September 20, 1999 - 4:41 pm:

An 8th season would be near-impossible to do, since half the cast is gone. Sisko's now a Prophet, Odo's in the Link, Rom's the Nagus, O'Brien's at the Academy, Jadiza died over a year ago and Ezri never was the same, Worf's the Federation's ambassador to the Klingons, and the only three left on the station are Kira, Bashir, and Ezri. I would like to see something dealing with the post-war Alpha Quadrant, but I don't think something like that's likely except in the novels or Voyager, who'd mess it up for sure.

By Rene on Monday, September 20, 1999 - 8:31 pm:

Well...if there had been an eight season, the seventh would have gone differently....the war
would not have ended yet...or it would have ended but the crew would still be together.

Yeah, I agree seeing the aftermath of the war would be awesome...but not on Voyager.

By Davey on Tuesday, September 21, 1999 - 12:29 pm:

That will probably be taken care of in the next Star Trek series. Star Trek: Renaissance

By B.F. on Tuesday, September 21, 1999 - 7:21 pm:

I should have phrased the question more clearly (sorry) but what I meant to imply is: what would an eighth season be like if the war was still ended -- but everybody was still there? Does anybody have a syndrom of missing DS9? Here in OKC the local FOX channel that ran the DS9 syndicated episodes (and new ones... or, what used to be new, anyway) replaced them with Voyager. Starting with Voy's first ep (which was a great one) and then jumping all the way to the 7o9 season's with the second airing. (Sigh) How sad, quality television replaced with sloppy television -- what is this world coming too?

By Rene on Wednesday, September 22, 1999 - 7:31 am:

Yeah..it is hard to believe that there are no new adventures to look forward to this month with the
finest crew in the entire uinverse....

By Jon on Wednesday, September 22, 1999 - 10:26 am:

Oh Please!! The show was exhausted enough as it was in the seventh season. Making an 8th season would degrade the show even more.

By Rene on Wednesday, September 22, 1999 - 12:57 pm:

In your opinion. Don't say "Oh please" like
it should be the opinion of everyone.

By Roland Khorshidianzadeh on Wednesday, September 22, 1999 - 3:41 pm:

I think DS9 should have lasted nine seasons. The war should have been spread through the sixth, seventh, and eighth seasons. Let's face it, there was no way TPTB would have let the entire seventh season be serialized and with the help of an eighth season the end of the seventh wouldn't have felt so cluttered. IMO three years would have been a good length for the war. After that I would have like a ninth season that would have dealt with the post-war.

By Roland Khorshidianzadeh on Wednesday, September 22, 1999 - 3:50 pm:

I see the eighth season dealing with the aftermath of the war on Cardassia, the Romulans breaking off their alliance with the Federation and some conflict with the Breen. There becomes a major question as the Breen's status in the Dominion after the war is over.

Sisko comes back after a few months (though to him it's felt like a few years). He felt bad about idea of Kassidy having to raise a child alone and he still has to bring Bajor into the Federation. A new Kai is elected since the last two Kais have been female, we'll make this one male) and he has some doubts about Bajor joining the Federation.

Ezri breaks up with Julian because they both realize that the only reason they were together was because of Jadzia. We see some issues about weather or not Ezri wants to be on the station anymore. She's really getting sick of still being in Jadzia's shadow after a year.

Anyone care to add to this?

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Wednesday, September 22, 1999 - 7:20 pm:

I think the next Kai should be wholeheartedly for Bajor's admission into the Federation, because the last two weren't. We should make the knowledge of Section 31 get out and have Shakaar be horrified over it and push not to be admitted.

Because he know Ezri is nothing like Jadzia. He knows Jadzia is gone, and he is letting himself grieve. It was not until he started talking to her and getting to know her, that he found himself falling in love with Ezri. I believe he loves Ezri. He didn't chase Ezri at the beginning, for fear he would think she would be like Jadzia. As for Ezri, I think she always thought Julian as attractive. I bet if she came on the station unjoined, she would of asked Julian out. It was the symbiont's memories that had her confused, and she chased after Worf. I believe Ezri's true self had the dreams of Julian as a breen. Remember, Jadzia considered Julian as a dear friend, but she never considered him as a mate. I really don't think she was ever attracted to him. If Ezri thought she was acting out Jadzia's memories, she wouldn't of hooked up with Julian. Remember, she thought she loved Worf, but with her dreams and her realization, she found out that was not true, it was Jadzia acting out those feelings.]

Was that supposed to be an insult, Jon?

By Chris Booton (Cbooton) on Friday, September 24, 1999 - 4:03 pm:

That's a lot of profountity! (sp?). I'm sure if theere were an 8'th season for DS9 then they would not have destroyed the Defiant, or killed of Dukat , etc. I think that they would have left the Pah'Raiths plot for maybe the begining of Season 8, and carried it over the season with the end being simular to what happened in the last episode.

It would have been very interesting to see a post war alpha quadrant, especially seeing what was to become of Cardassia.

By Mike Ram on Friday, September 24, 1999 - 10:44 pm:

Jon, please don't mess with Rene.

Mpatterson and Rene, you are right. If there had been an 8th season, I would be a lot happier right now, knowing that I could look forward to seeing those old friends again...

Also, I hope that if Voyager makes it back to the Alpha Quadrant, TPTB won't show the aftermath on screen. Of course if they did, they would throw continuity out the window again. And I also hope there will be a DS9/NextGen finale movie so everything could end gracefully. Well, that's my $0.02 for now(!).

By Kyle Powderly on Friday, October 08, 1999 - 11:21 am:

OK, since the end of the series is a done deal, and it is a little hard to speculate a 'what if-?' based on the series not ending (characters being around who aren't, the war storyline continuing/not continuing, etc.) how about a speculation on a 'What if-?' DS9 reunion movie-sort-of thing? What would a DS9 special event movie - say on UPN - three to five years down the line look like?

By Matt Pesti on Wednesday, November 24, 1999 - 11:07 pm:

By Slinky Frog on Friday, November 26, 1999 - 1:48 pm:

Matt: These sound like good episodes(Makes me wonder that TPTB should let the fans take over)and I think these would turn out nice. The last epidoe there, would it involve a visit from prophet/captain Ben Sisko? I would think that would make a nice touch.

Would Kai Opaka not resume her duties, because there is already a new appoited Kai? I don't think she would probably want to take over anyways.

I think they should have a episode where Ezri meets her past host, like Jadzia did in "Facet".
I wonder what character would do Jadzia.

"Instrument of peace" Jake reports on Garak's rebuilding of Cardassia. I think Jake should be in alot of stories doing his reporter thing.

I also would think that there would be a episode where Julain's DNA resequencing would break down, or they think that is what is happening to him.

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Saturday, November 27, 1999 - 2:04 am:

How about this:

"Las Almas" Ezri undergoes the zhian'tara. Hosts:
Worf (if they can come up with an excuse to get Nog on the station for two years, they can find one for Worf to be there for one episode): Jadzia
Jake: Curzon
Nog: Torias
Quark: Joran
Kira: Verad

There's more, but they didn't do anything.

By Scott McClenny on Friday, December 24, 1999 - 4:46 pm:

Ok how about the following:

A TIME OF DECISION:The remaining crew
are each offered choices as to their future.
Jake,Kira,Ezri and Bashir decide to stay,Worf
ops to return to duty on the Enterprise where
he is reunited with Troi.

Night Of The Wolf:On a survey mission to
the Gamma Quadrant Jake and Ezri encounter a
legend from Earth's past.

The Deceiver:Someone in the crew is not
who or what they are pretending to be.(pt.1 of 2)

Truth Or Consequences:Lieutenant Doyle
is finally revealed as being a member of an alien
species from the Delta Quadrant(hint:Species 8472
ring any bells?)(pt.2 of 2)

Misplaced:Ezri and Seven find themselves
switched,Ezri wakes up on VOYAGER while Seven finds herself on DS9(DS9/VOY crossover).

The Kai:The new election for Kai results
in a tie between the two leading candidates, but the only one who can mediate the outcome is missing and Kira and Bashir must find her before
midnight or civil war may break out.

Darkness Rising:Evil Kira aka The
Intedant returns from the Mirror Universe and
replaces Col.Kira, can she be stopped before her
plan is put into action?

The Prince And The Pauper:Jake turns
out to be the identical twin of the son of a new
ambassador posted to the station.

The Return:Sisko returns from his time
with the Prophets only to have learned that a
even greater danger awaits Bajor, but the question
is can he be trusted?

The Girl From G*I*L*E*S:A transporter
accident sends Jake,Ezri and Kira to early 21st
century California where they are saved from an
attack by an unknown college co-ed.(DS9/Buffy
crossover:GOTCHA!!!!!:))

Yeah,I know some of them sound a bit lame, but
the idea,as I think about it is to figure out
what the 8th season of DS9 MIGHT HAVE BEEN LIKE,
so it is really anyone's guess.:)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!:)
HAPPY 2000,in case the world don't end!!!!!:)

JANEWAY/SEVEN in 2000!!!!:)

By Anonymous on Friday, January 07, 2000 - 3:59 am:

How about this for a 8th season.

Star Trek the revenge: The voyager finally ends up in the delta quadrant only to find that Ds9 is not there anymore. (It blown into bits)Every one is missing and no one knows why. Then they figure out a way to go into the worm hole and back track into what happened. Say about 5 series back. Where Odo comes back after curing his ppl and hooks up with Kira for good, but she is already falling in love with lets say some new guy. Sisko comes back because he really misses his family and his son and also he sense something bad is about to happen. Due to the appearance captain sisko make he naturally needs the assistance of Worf who is gladly welcomed back on DS9 and they are all laughing and having a good time and things are going normal but since Garak had some revenge his turning evil on the crew but they don't know it yet he is getting the cardacians riled up for some revenge on starfleet because of all the millions of lives lost on Cardacia Because of fedaration and dominion war so he is setting up a secret attack on DS9 with some major weapon of war. This is where voyager comes in they have to figure out a way to stop this because they can see what is happening some how but since they are seeing the past they cant do anything and they have to figure out a way to stop DS9 from blowing up. I would go on but I don't want the series end after the station is saved LOL

By Matt Pesti on Monday, April 03, 2000 - 8:26 am:

More Crossovers.

We finally meet Tom Servo's Robot Repair.

Space Ghost Appears in a "Red Five" Moment.

Chevov, who is only 120 could make an appearance.

A series of Jedi looking Charaters could appear on the station in a line or something.

A Pokeball carrying a dangerous Delta Quadrent pokemon is found.

Can you say Bender?

By Mark Bowmanf] on Sunday, April 09, 2000 - 9:38 am:

If you think DS9 being replaced with
Voyager is bad, you haven't experienced
Next Generation being replaced with
Ricki Lake!!! (as it was for a time back in
Philadelphia) Just the thought of it makes me
sick X{

By Josh G. on Saturday, April 14, 2001 - 10:29 pm:

Oh, how I miss DS9. If it had gone nine seasons, I'd be anticipating its finale now instead of Voyager's...

Anyway, here's some ideas for an eighth season:

"Recovery"
As Bajor prepares to enter the Federation, divisions in the alliance begin to form over the future of Cardassia. The female changeling had been convicted of war crimes - the Romulans, Klingons, and remaining Cardassians call for her execution, the Federation's official stance is for an indeterminite prison sentence. Meanwhile the occupation of Cardassia and relations with the Dominion are even more problematic. Elements within all the allies are calling for reparations from the Dominion.
(These will be underlying themes for the season)

btw, I like the idea of Jake reporting on the rebuilding of Cardassia.

By Jay on Sunday, April 03, 2011 - 9:31 pm:

I'm not interesting in an 8th season, all the best characters are gone
