I've been watching ABC lately and their previews for shows have had music that sounds exactly like the music that played over DS9 previews. Now, was that music unique to DS9 or a piece that had been composed before? If not, then how can ABC use it?
(Maybe I'm just hearing things. If I am, let me know, OK?)
Hey, I heard that too, not ten minutes ago! It was on a "Dharma and Greg" promo, I think. No idea what the music is, though I've never heard it anywhere outside DS9. (Actually, it sounds like a knockoff of "Mars, the Bringer of War"!)
Thanks, I'm glad to know I'm not nuts or something. I thought I might be suffering from Post-DS9 syndrome.
I caught it last night too... Definitely the same music, especially the "drumbeat" effect at the end...
And, yes, it was on a "Dharma and Greg" promo where Dharma's dad is Xeroxing his rear end.
Deep Space Heinie.
This seems to tie in with one of Phil's comments in the DS9 Guide, in which he stated that the preview music for "Family Business" sounded like the theme from "Psycho." I got to see that preview through the CD-ROM Encyclopedia (the only way you can see the previews here in England) and it did seem rather un-DS9-like. Maybe ABC just goes to the film storage unit and drags out whatever seems appropriate (or "ear-catching"- WINK WINK)...
I also heard the music on CBS- I guess they all use it!
if i recall-it went like so:
du-dddu-du-du-
da-ddda-da-da-
dah-dddah-dah-
well, if you haven't figured it out by now, i guess i just can't "write" music well.
ALERT! ALERT!
UPDATE!!!!!!!
ds9 preview music heard on a "Days of Our Lives" commercial on NBC
I heard it too, but it was using trumpets/higher pitched stuff instead of the heavy bass line that was used on ABC and DS9.
Yep I did too. Is there a name for this piece? Who composed/performed it?
