The new TAS comic "The Patient Parasites" is now open! Written by Russell Bates, author of the Animated Star Trek episode "How Sharper Than a Serpents Tooth". Please have a look, and let me know what you think!

I hope everyone enjoys the comic, and will tell all their Star Trek friends to have a look.

Thank you!

This is my first time back to NitC in a long time, and I just thought I'd see if there were any updates to the TAS boards... What a pleasant surprise! (Not to mention a strange coincidence, what with just happening to check this board at this time after a long absense...)

Pretty good comic as usual, Kail. I always enjoy these!
One nit I noticed was on page 31, where the Enterprise was in front of the expanding 'eclipse cloud'. Instead of the greenish cloud, black space showed up between parts of the Enterprise (namely the engine pylons & 'neck' connecting the main & secondary hulls). Anti-nit: this was deliberately done to mimic the sometimes spotty sfx seen in the real series!
Nice to see some more secondary characters. At least one of them (in the blue shirt) I recognized from the portrait service you've shown samples of. One of the security guys reminds me a little of actor Austin Pendleton. (Oh, and your wife is back again, isn't she? No, I'm not referring to M'Ress!)
Also liked Chekov's promotion to Lieutenant, and his transfer to Security... nice tie-in with the movies.

Anyway, looking forward to the next issue, and to more updates on your site. (So few and far between! :( )

Oh, forgot to mention something regarding the story... the idea of a probe sent to 'analyze' the heroes in some (often nefarious) way is a staple of sci-fi. This comic issue reminded me of a bad Space: 1999 episode called "Ring Around the Moon," especially with its point about the master race being extinct. On the other hand, I thought this comic handled the idea better than the S:99 ep did.
Come to think of it, probes are a staple of Star Trek in particular... NOMAD, V'GER, the Whalesong probe.
Just remembered another point that seemed to echo something else: Finder's purpose of bringing warp technology to its masters vaguely reminded me of Star Trek V and its malevolent entity trying to get a hold of warp tech. (Come to think of it, this comic issue seemed to handle that whole thing better than ST:V!)
Finally, the animations were a neat touch, though if this were a printed comic, they might not show up as well!

Come to think of it, the blue-shirt that resembles the portrait guy also kind of resembles a yellow-shirt on Masao's Starfleet Museum website... is it the same person, and is that a TAS version of Masao himself?

Thanks CR, glad you liked the comic. Yes, Thats Masao as the blue shirt. My wife is the yeoman, and I am the dark haired security guy. The other one is a crewman who made a brief appearance on TAS.

Already working on the script. It's called "Heal Thyself". A McCoy tale. Don't do much on the site except the comics anymore. I spent 4 years building it and can't think of anything more to ad!! (/:-)

Thanks again for your kind comments. Tell your friends!

Unbelievably, I just discovered the TAS trading cards on your site after reading issue 8. I'm amazed I missed them up until now!

"Tell your friends!"
Will do!
