Recurring nits

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: The Trek Animated Series: The Animated Sink (AKA Yet Another Sink): Recurring nits
By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Saturday, January 06, 2007 - 4:10 am:

This is for nits that appear more than once.

Sometimes the doors on the Bridge are open...for no reason whatsoever.

There are times in which Kirk's voice has a slight hissing in the background...that's because Shatner pre-recorded his lines on a tape recorder and mailed them in.

Sometimes the stars surrounding the Enterprise "tag along for the ride" when the Enterprise begins moving. (It's all on one cel)

Scotty & Kyle appear at random behind the console during the Transporter scenes. It starts off with Scotty behind the console and ends with Kyle (with mustache) and vice-versa

Your turn Benn...

By Benn (Benn) on Saturday, January 06, 2007 - 11:57 am:

The two I'm seeing so far are...

On the left side of the Bridge, in a shot from the rear of the bridge, next to the Main Viewscreen, there's a turbolift instead of more Bridge consoles.

The other occurs in a three shot of Lt. Arex, Captain Kirk and Lt. Sulu. The view is from the front of the Bridge. Behind the three officers should be Commander Spock and Lt. Uhura. Instead, more often than not, the latter two officers are missing from their posts. I think they may be having an affair we never knew about. (I've seen one use of this shot in which Spock and Uhura are at their posts, so Filmation did make it that way. Which makes it strange that out of four or five eps [so far] with that shot, only one has everyone in it who should be in it.)

From what I read Benn, the 2nd turbolift was deliberately added to TAS to give the crew another way off the Bridge.

(I think this was mentioned in "Starlog" magazine. I'm not sure. However, I do remember reading it somewhere)

Hm. I hadn't heard that, John.

Still, the biggest recurring nit is one I have yet to mention in any ep so far. On every character in TAS, their sclera (scleri? scleras?) are the same color as their skin, rather than white. Yet, the show's colorists (painters?) are able to get their teeth color (white) right.

The Enterprise's phasers are colored yellow in TAS. Previously, in TOS, they've either been red or blue.

By R W F Worsley (Notanit) on Thursday, April 30, 2020 - 4:34 pm:

The change in phaser colour could be due to an equipment upgradee.

By Keith Alan Morgan (Kmorgan) on Thursday, April 30, 2020 - 11:53 pm:

Didn't some episode say there were 16 settings on a phaser? Maybe color is optional? ;-) "Set phasers to mauve!"
