The Foresight Saga

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: M*A*S*H: Season Nine: The Foresight Saga
By D.K. Henderson on Friday, February 11, 2000 - 6:54 pm:

Plot A: Radar writes to the 4077th, boasting of how well he is doing. Klinger accidently breaks Col. Potter's second pair of glasses. An optometrist is called in. A young Korean farmer, who has provided the camp (and Radar's animals) with some fresh vegetables, is also offered a new pair of glasses. Later, the young man is injured trying to defend his farm. Calling Ottumwa, Iowa, they find that Radar is not doing as well as he claimed. They decide to have Radar sponser the young farmer.
Plot B: Margaret, who's been having problems with her eyesight, is relieved to find that she doesn't need glasses (yet), but must accept the fact her eyesight is no longer 20/20.

Is sponsoring a Korean so easily done?

This is one of the last--if not the last--times that we see Radar's animals.

This is the second episode in a row to open with the sound of a jet flying overhead.

Potter tells the staff, "I'll bet you're dying to know why I've called you here." In the background, you can see Hawkeye with his right hand on top of his head. In the next shot, the hand's not there anymore.

As Hawkeye and B.J. savor the taste of the cole slaw, Igor looks up with a smile on his face. In the next shot, the smile is gone and Igor is looking down.

Wonder why they kept Radar's menagerie after he left?

While in Margaret's tent, Dr. Herzog, the optomistrist, sits in a chair twice in two different camera shots.

In the Officers Club, Klinger tells Potter he's "...a prince among colonels." Potter is looking up at Klinger. Then in the next shot, Potter is looking at the table. Meanwhile, Charles suddenly has a pretzel in his hand.

Um, when the plan to call Radar is hatched, as far as anyone else knew, Margaret was either in the VIP tent or her tent with Bud Herzog, engaged in a little hanky panky. So why would they bother to get her for the call to Ottumwa, seeing that as far as they knew they'd be committing coitus interruptus?

If sponsoring a Korean's so easy, then why couldn't the Korean-American infant in "Yessir, That's Our Baby" be sponsored, too. Say, by B.J. and Peg?

When Potter tells Park Sung they have some "aloha presents" for him, Margaret's arms are crossed. However, in the shot where the presents are passed forward, the Major's hands are held in front of her.

"Beaver biscuits!"
