Which episode was it that...?

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: M*A*S*H: The Officers' Club (AKA The Kitchen Sink): Which episode was it that...?
By D.K. Henderson on Thursday, February 17, 2000 - 5:41 am:

In the books that I used for the plot synopsis, they tended to focus on one storyline. There are various storylines that I can remember, but I can't recall what episode they were in. If anyone else has this problem, here's where to put it. If anyone can help, please either put it here or in the appropriate episode board. Thanks!

Which episode had Col. Potter taking a remedial driving test, after he planned to "pencil whip" his driving violation ticket?

Which had Klinger and his invisible camel?

Which one had B.J. confined to the Swamp with some problem, and all the efforts he made to prevent Charles from playing his records? (Margaret and just gotten a record player, but no records.)

By D.K. Henderson on Thursday, February 17, 2000 - 6:01 am:

Which episode had Charles and Margaret sharing a tainted hamper of food, and Klinger getting a bunch of Paco's Hungarian Hot Dogs?

Which one had Klinger making a mustache for a Puerto Rican soldier whose own mustache had been removed?

By Khaja on Thursday, February 17, 2000 - 10:34 pm:

Col. Potter taking driving (or VEE-hickle) lessons from Rizzo is in "Wheelers and Dealers."
Margaret and Charles getting sick from tainted pheasant is in "The Grim Reaper"

By ScottN on Friday, February 18, 2000 - 9:21 am:

Wasn't it vee-HICK-le?

By Khaja on Friday, February 18, 2000 - 4:58 pm:

ScottN--you're probably right. It's been a while since I've seen the ep and I never was that good at Rizzoisms.
Klinger and his invisible camel, Habibi, are in "Last Laugh," but possibly other episodes as well.

By ScottN on Saturday, February 19, 2000 - 1:41 am:

Which episode was the Potter/BJ/Margaret/Charles bridge game in? Father Mulcahy bet against the "sure thing" Charles because he was sure that Charles' ego would do him in (which it did!).

By Khaja on Saturday, February 19, 2000 - 10:50 am:

The bridge tournament is in "The Best of Enemies." And Mulcahy bet against both Charles and Potter because of their egos...which reminds me: Did the Padre EVER lose a bet?

By D.K. Henderson on Tuesday, February 22, 2000 - 5:36 am:

I don't think so. I seem to recall Hawkeye asking him if he was using "pull" with The Man Upstairs.

(Not specifically in those terms, of course.)

By Khaja on Tuesday, February 22, 2000 - 4:15 pm:

I had to ask around for the last two answers, but I finally got them.
BJ confined to the Swamp and trying to quiet the record players is in "Friends and Enemies," season 11
Klinger making a new mustache for the soldier is in "Post-Op," season 5

By S. Donaldson on Sunday, February 27, 2000 - 9:33 am:

Fr. Mulcahy did lose in the episode where Charles was winning from everyone at poker. That is, until it is discovered in reveiwing the games that Chuckes whistles louder when he has a winning hand.

By Todd Pence on Saturday, March 25, 2000 - 9:38 am:

Which one is it where Trapper is training for a boxing match? Margaret watches him out in the yard punching a large duffel bag full of clothes. Margaret asks "Isn't that Frank's bag?" and Trapper replies "I thought you were Frank's bag!" One of the rudest (and funniest) M*A*S*H lines.

By SaRa on Sunday, March 26, 2000 - 12:57 pm:

That's "Requiem for a Lightweight." Anyone know what episode the dog (Corporal Cupcake) was in?

By Anonymous on Thursday, March 30, 2000 - 8:12 pm:

Which episode had Klinger speaking several lines in Arabic...the phrase I remember from the subtitle was "Grandmother give me your cheese from the window" which I think he actually said right! I'm pretty sure it was one of the "letter writing" episodes, but which?

By D.K. Henderson on Saturday, April 01, 2000 - 5:23 am:

I'm not certain, but I think that it might have been in the episode with the spirit post. Klinger had been replacing light bulbs and Frank chewed him out as only Frank can do. Klinger snapped off something, then said that it was a curse, to start the day that he got home to his wife.

There was another episode where Margaret ordered him to do something and Klinger started muttering in Arabic, then Margaret more or less told him to shut up.

Exactly what language does Klinger speak? First it's Lebanese, then Arabic. Being ignorant of such matters, I suppose Lebanese could be a form of Arabic.

By ScottN on Wednesday, April 05, 2000 - 9:33 am:

I believe it's Arabic. There may be a Lebanese dialect... (Just get someone from Maine and someone from the deep South in the same room and tell me they're speaking the same language...)

Also, what episode was it where Charles was upset because he thought his sister was "marrying beneath herself"?

By Khaja on Wednesday, April 05, 2000 - 2:39 pm:

That one's "Bottle Fatigue" from season eight. It's one of my favorite Charles episodes, with first his bigoted rantings and then his touching apology.

By Richard Davies on Tuesday, September 12, 2000 - 4:14 pm:

Which episode briefly featured an Ethiopian? I remember BBC2 showing this as part of a Docs On The Box Theme night. What other nationalities of UN soldiers do we get to see during the series?

By ScottN on Tuesday, September 12, 2000 - 5:38 pm:

I know we had Greeks and Turks (the Spam Lamb episode). And we had Brits (the one with the spit&polish colonel that Hawkeye hates).

By goog on Tuesday, September 12, 2000 - 6:26 pm:

Which episode was it where Hawkeye was frantically trying to find out what the "B" and the "J" stood for?

By Lurker on Tuesday, September 12, 2000 - 8:36 pm:

"Lil"

By Chris P on Thursday, October 05, 2000 - 1:16 am:

Other nations seen:
Swedish Doctor Inga who Hawkeye falls for
Several episodes with the British
Greeks and Turks
Ethiopian
I think there was a French person somewhere
There were also mention of a couple other nations that made some odd contributions to the war effort

By Lilith on Friday, October 06, 2000 - 12:40 am:

Never forget Luxemborg.

By ScottN on Friday, October 06, 2000 - 11:43 am:

Lilith, what was that country again? I forgot :-)

By D.K. Henderson on Friday, October 20, 2000 - 5:42 am:

Which episode had the sub-plot of a young soldier being harrassed because his colleagues had found that he was still a virgin? He decided to prove his manhood by volunteering for the extremely hazardous bomb-disposal squad. The episode had Potter showing the boy how to tie a few fishing flies.

By D.K. Henderson on Friday, October 20, 2000 - 5:33 pm:

Funny coincidence that the very episode should be shown this evening. It was "Promotion Commotion."

By PFC Rhino on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 - 2:07 pm:

And Canadian, eh?

By Triggins (Triggins) on Sunday, February 01, 2009 - 6:18 pm:

What episode was it where Potter put Margaret in her place. She had come into his office to demand something and he refused and she threatened to go the general shew was friends with. And Potter did not cave like Blake always did.

By Benn (Benn) on Sunday, February 01, 2009 - 10:06 pm:

I'd need a little more details. Like do you remember what it was Margaret wanted? If I knew that, I might be able to help.

"Finest kind."

By Kevin (Kevin) on Sunday, February 01, 2009 - 10:44 pm:

Not sure, but it sounds like a fairly early Potter episode, the point of that scene being to show that old tricks weren't going to work anymore.

By Benn (Benn) on Sunday, February 01, 2009 - 10:46 pm:

Yeah, I'm sure it's a fourth season ep. But which one, I'm not sure.

By Todd M. Pence (Tpence) on Monday, February 02, 2009 - 1:55 pm:

It sounds like the one where Margaret wanted to get rid of a nurse on her staff she felt was too emotional. Potter refused. I don't know the title offhand.

By Benn (Benn) on Monday, February 02, 2009 - 9:39 pm:

If that's the case, then we're talking about a sixth seasons ep: "Images".

"Finest kind."

By Triggins (Triggins) on Tuesday, February 03, 2009 - 6:11 pm:

I wish I knew details.

By Benn (Benn) on Wednesday, February 04, 2009 - 11:02 am:

Yeah, I do, too. It would help to identify the episode.

By Mash Fan on Friday, February 06, 2009 - 8:31 am:

Andrew Duggan was Hotlip's dad, Potter defended the two doctors after they made peace with

him?

By ? on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 - 1:35 am:

Which episode Radar played someone else?

By Benn (Benn) on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 - 4:07 am:

You mean where Gary Burghoff played Radar's mother? That was in the ep, "Mail Call Again."

By ? on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 - 9:51 am:

Maybe, but I think he played a soldier?
its been yarhens...

don't know for sure...

By Benn (Benn) on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 - 11:46 am:

"Played a soldier"? Radar was part of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital. Gary Burghoff was always playing a soldier. I don't think he ever played a civilian on the series beyond Mother O'Reilly. Which is the only other role Burghoff played on M*A*S*H.

By ? on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 - 12:41 pm:

no, Gary Burghoff wasnt credited, I think, he played another fella, other than Radar. (yes know my Mashes. , as well as my Treks...)and yes I know that episode too...Mail call Again.
------------------
Potter: horsehockey!(or Bs).

------------------

He also played Walter, a big bomb, and I wish I saw it.

By Benn (Benn) on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 - 1:20 pm:

Of course he played "Walter". That was Radar's first name. What you mean is that he starred in a pilot called W*A*L*T*E*R, which didn't do well. And in the 181 episodes of M*A*S*H he appeared in, "Mother O'Reilly" is the only uncredited role Gary Burghoff played in the series. All other times, he was Corporal Walter Eugene "Radar" O'Reilly.
