The Young and Restless

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: M*A*S*H: Season Seven: The Young and Restless

Plot A: A lecture on the latest surgical techniques by a very young doctor, and a later demonstration of his skill show everyone, especially Charles, how out of touch they are with new medical discoveries.
Plot B: Col. Potter first fights being bedridden with a bad leg, then refuses to get up when he feels unneeded.
Plot C: Klinger acts like he thinks that he's in Toledo.

This is one of my favorite of Klinger's Section 8 attempts. Klinger got sooo close to actually getting out.

It's strange hearing Charles quote W.C. Fields ("Go away kid, you bother me.") and the movie Boys Town ("Scram Pee Wee!").

Colonel Potter is limping around in this ep because of his phlebitis. Hawkeye comments that it's acting up again. Again? When did it ever act up before this? Off camera?

When Mr. Klinger first enters the Mess Tent, the collar of his blue jacket are folded out. In the next shot, they're folded in.

There must be an in-joke involved in it, but Mr. Klinger's t-shirt during the triage scene says "Toledo Gateway to Zanesville".

When Radar enters the C.O.'s tent, the book Potter is reading in bed is called Ride the Man Down. The Colonel indicates that it's a Zane Grey book. As far as I can tell, Zane Grey never used that as the title of one of his books. It appears that Ride the Man Down was written by Luke Short.

Boy, Potter's a fast reader, isn't he? When Mr. Klinger shows up with the aluminum sidings, the Colonel is reading a different book - The Hell-Benders. (Keep in mind that it hasn't been too long before Mr. Klinger's arrival that Radar was in his tent.)

"All that good whiskey shot to hell."
