"Fate of Atlantis"
"The Infernal Machine"

Good, bad or ugly?

By John A. Lang on Saturday, April 22, 2000 - 12:20 am:

The "infernal Machine" is state of the art!

It is TOTALLY INDY!

By L Boogie on Thursday, January 11, 2001 - 6:49 pm:

I haven't had a chance to play Infernal Machine (THANKS slow as hell PC!!). You can kind of say my PC is the Infernal Machine...heh heh.

Fate of Atlantis was cool since you could play it 3 times with different results (except ending). It wasn't straightforward and I got stuck in lots of spots. The whole possession by the ancient Atlantean spirit was eerie!! Plus, I also played "Last Crusade" which was really ol skool!!

By Michael Conlon on Saturday, July 07, 2001 - 8:55 pm:

This is just my complaint. In both Atlantis and Infernal machine, Indy refers to his shovel as an "entrenching tool". Why not just call it a shovel?

By Michael Conlon on Friday, March 29, 2002 - 7:47 am:

The Soviet troops in Infernal Machine seem to do the impossible. First, they are able to send troops into foreign countries with out diplomatic incident. Second, they are allways right behind me, no matter how much barriers prevent them from doing that.

You won't find warez here.

I think he was looking for a place to *buy* it online. It's a problem with old games these days - they don't seem to be available in many places, particularly since modern machines with newer versions of Windows need a little dabbling with system files in order to actually get them up and running in some semblance of a DOS mode. (Unless, as is the case with DOOM and the X-Wing games, there are special Windows versions.)

Matt, if you do see this message, have you looked on eBay?

By Sven of addendum on Sunday, June 16, 2002 - 9:56 am:

I shouldn't think it would be a problem - after all, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max, and all the Monkey Island games are out on budget.

By Sven of Old Games on Sunday, June 16, 2002 - 9:57 am:

Then again, can anyone buy "Zak McCraken and the Alien Mindbenders" anymore?

By John A. Lang on Sunday, June 16, 2002 - 1:47 pm:

Sometomes you can still find these rare items at Electronics Boutique (in the "sales cage") or at computer conventions (the ones where they sell software)

Well, Young Indiana Jones Chronicles established that Indy fought in World War I, maybe that's what they called the shovels.

I dunno, just guessing.

Sounds likely. There's an old Army joke that goes something like:
The Army, where they're not afraid to call a spade, a manual entrenching device.

INDIANA JONES & THE EMPEROR'S TOMB

The lastest game from Lucasarts. Superior graphics, tough engine. I liked the "Infernal Machine" engine better. Music gets kind of monotonous though.

By John A. Lang on Sunday, August 24, 2003 - 9:37 pm:

Next to impossible stuff on this game:

In some circumstances, you are required to run / jump / and use the whip in a matter of seconds to get from point "A" to point "B"

By John A. Lang on Friday, September 12, 2003 - 10:27 am:

Just a note: I gave up on "Indiana Jones & the Emperor's Tomb" It was just one mindless scenario after another. Same dumb fights with the same dumb people. Also, too many difficult jumps, and the artifacts are too hard to find. Plus, the background music gets annoying after awhile I don't recommend this game unless you've got nerves of steel & a truckload of patience.

By Michael Conlon on Friday, October 24, 2003 - 1:54 pm:

Did Emperor's Tomb take place before Last Crusade? Because if it did in Last Crusade, Indy should not be that surprised by the invisible bridge over bottomless pit trap, since he's seen such a thing before.
