This game can be funny but it's got lots of bugs, like freezing up during some cinematics, and then when you find you have no choice but to completely turn off everything, which in my case means the surge protector and then unplugging the computer from it and replugging it back in and turning it back on, you have to restore your desktop when it goes all white.

I also hate that it has no in-game save feature, which would really help a lot. At least each time you finish a mission the game's saved at the start of the next one so you can always start from right there next time you wanna play the game. Right now I'm only up to saving Tel from his spaceship but first I've got to get past the reapers.

Are these bugs mentioned by official reviewers? I think it is a bit much to say that "my computer is too slow and old to run this" equates to "this game is bugged".

Peter.

My system is a 1.3ghz so it's not too slow by a longshot. The retail version is pretty buggy right out of the box but there's at least one patch, maybe more. I might need to download DirectX 8 to install the game's latest patch but I dunno. You can read about the game at www.avault.com or www.gamespot.com, among many other sites. It can be fun when it's not crashing to the desktop.

DirectX 8 comes with Giants. I'd recommend getting the latest video & sound drivers to run this game, as well as the latest patch.

This game is pretty good. I loved playing it through the first time. I had no where near the problems that other people have had--can't explain why. However, the game doesn't hold much replay value because there's no single player skirmish mode and the multiplayer mode doesn't work.

Turns out I've already downloaded DirectX 8. Guess I'd forgotten it cuz I still can't remember doing it. Maybe it was automatically done with this game, I dunno. Usually, you're asked by the game's disk if you want to load it or it'll tell you whether or not you even need to.

I was looking for this game but it's very hard to get in the shops. It seems to have slipped by very easily.
