The underground cult hit from a few years back, by Introversion Software (not to be confused with "Half-Life: Uplink," the demo level of the original "Half-Life").

Essentially "Elite" with computer hackers instead of pilots, computer gateway setups (with optional video cameras) instead of spaceships, modems and processors instead of engines, memory instead of cargo space, and programs instead of ship add-ons. It's pretty good fun, too!

It's difficult to get working on most Windows systems without the game freezing annoyingly, but seems to be perfect on the NT-based OS's such as 2000 and XP. And, of course, Linux.
