Great production values, good story, great graphics and sound, the skirmish mode - the definitive X-Wing game!

I have it but haven't tried it for a long time now.

This is a terrific game!

The pilot proving ground section (Battle 1 onwards) is the best of its type in any of the X-Wing games. Reminds me of the "Descent" games and "X - Beyond the Frontier" a lot. It's actually one that doesn't feel like a chore and one you can really enjoy. The voices of encouragement and the swelling music towards the end of your run also helps give that sense of achievement.

What's also nice is that it's entirely optional, wheras you practically needed it to go anywhere in the other games.

New Models for a LOT of XWA stuff. It rules!

Has anyone tried the patch where one can fly ANY ship in skirmish mode (even the capital ships)?

By JD on Thursday, June 13, 2002 - 9:40 pm:

I have. Dueling Super Star Destroyers sounds a lot more fun that it actually is, although it's fun to see ALL those lasers fire at once from your huge ship.

By JD on Thursday, June 13, 2002 - 9:41 pm:

Plus any ship you fly handles as well as it does in the missions, which means bad, in the case of cap ships, and almost not at all, in the case of SSDs. :-)

Is it me, or does the family space station look like a Quake symbol when viewed from above?

By Sven of Slipgate on Wednesday, July 17, 2002 - 7:57 am:

It's not just you, it's me too. In fact, perhaps it's a subliminal message to all the Quake-heads in the world.

I think John Carmack should be told.
